Program DescriptionThis program is specifically designed for physicians, trainees, and allied health professionals with a strong interest or clinical practice in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. This course will serve as an update on the latest diagnostic and therapeutic issues in gastroenterology and hepatology.
The program has been developed using a case-based question and answer format, designed to replicate clinical scenarios, and thus serve as a intensive review tool for those attendees who will be taking the Gastroenterology/Hepatology Board Certification examination.
Educational ObjectivesAt the conclusion of this CME activity, the learner should be better able to:· Identify the limits and parameters of current knowledge in a variety of Gastrointestinal and Hepatic disorders, in order to make informed recommendations about prevention, diagnostic and therapeutic options to patients based on available scientific evidence.
· Apply the principles of evidence-based medicine in making recommendations to patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
· Describe important information from recently published literature and professional society guidelines pertaining to patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
Who Should AttendGastroenterologists, hepatologists, fellows or residents in training, and nurses and physician assistants who care for patients with gastrointestinal or liver diseases.
AccreditationThe Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit DesignationThe Icahn School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 24.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16 MOC points and medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit. In order to obtain MOC points, participants will be asked to complete a post-activity assessment. As part of the assessment, learners will submit a reflective statement on intention to change practice based on the knowledge gained. Learners will also be required to provide ABIM number & Date of Birth.
