To the organizers, to the volunteers, and to all of you who donated your treasures, we offer heartfelt thanks on behalf of those we serve.
Two trucks were filled once again! The clothing, toys, household items and other donations will be sold in the SVdP Thrift stores. Proceeds from the sales are used to support programs and services that help individuals and families break the cycle of poverty and achieve stability and self-sufficiency. Read more about these programs at the SVdP Georgia website: https://www.svdpgeorgia.org/what-we-do/
If you missed the opportunity, you may always drop off clothing and other small, non-breakable items in the donation bin behind the Church. Look for a big, blue bin with the SVdP Logo, nestled among other bins on the street between our Church and Queen of Angels School. You can slip bags of clothing, shoes, coats, and small household items into the bin for pickup.
May God bless you for your support of our neighbors in need!

Adult Sacraments?
“Our hearts are restless until they rest in You, O Lord” St. Augustine
Are you uncertain about taking steps on a path that leads
to the Sacraments? Wondering what that path might look
like for you? We invite you to a conversation regarding
the RCIA process, where adults grow in their knowledge
and understanding of God and discern the Sacraments.
God calls each one of us to a deeper relationship with
Him, and often times our response to His call is
recognized as a yearning in our hearts, or as St. Augustine
states, a restless heart. God will lead you to the peace and

Bible Study –Lectio: The Case for Jesus –Tuesday Mornings 10 to 11:30Why Jesus? Do you follow Jesus on the way?Can we trust the Gospels? Do we really know who wrote them? Do the Gospels communicate truth – or fabricated fables? Who is Jesus? Who did Jesus claim to be? Join Dr. Brant Pitre as he draws evidence from both early Christian and non-Christian writings attesting to the authenticity, authorship, and dating of the Gospels, and as he gives an in-depth look at the Gospel accounts of Jesus’s Crucifixion, Resurrection, and the proclamation of Christ’s divinity. Dr. Pitre’s powerful presentation will strengthen your faith so that you can not only stand firm and profess that Jesus truly is “the Christ, the Son of the living God,” but also confidently respond to any skeptics you encounter. Sign up for this 9-week bible led by Deacon Mike Bickerstaff at 678-832-1228 or [email protected]

MINISTRY NEWS In today’s Gospel Jesus called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child, he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.” Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will help hungry children feel the arms of Jesus around them. The annual second collection for the Georgia Council of St. Vincent de Paul is this weekend! This collection is essential for continuing SVdP’s mission to deliver hope and help to people in need. Since its inception in Georgia in 1903, St. Vincent de Paul Georgia has been one of the leading organizations serving families and individuals in need across the state. A large network of volunteers, community partners, and a central support staff allows SVdP Georgia to provide life-changing programs and services including direct aid assistance, Client Choice Food Pantries, and support that helps families find stability and self-sufficiency. Please be generous in your support in helping the poor among us.
Interested parishioners are always welcome to join us at our twice-monthly meetings. Every meeting includes spiritual reflection, prayer, and time to share. In-person meetings have resumed but others will also be able to participate via Zoom. Email [email protected] for information about joining the Zoom meetings. "Second Monday" Monthly Meetings On the second Monday of each month meetings are typically devoted to Friendship and Spiritual Growth as Vincentians. The next "Second Monday" meeting is scheduled for October 11 at 7:00 pm in classroom 6/7 at the Church. "Fourth Monday" Monthly Meetings Our second meeting is held on the fourth Monday of each month and is typically devoted to business and casework. The next "Fourth Monday" meeting is scheduled for September 27 at 7:00 pm in classroom 6/7 at the Church. STEPHEN MINISTRY “Just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:40) We all experience challenges in life - times when we could benefit from care and support. Stephen Ministers can provide the emotional and spiritual care we need when faced with a crisis or difficulty, such as: loss of a loved one, divorce or separation, spiritual crisis, a terminal illness or recovery after an accident or disaster.
If you can benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister, please contact Msgr. Peter at: [email protected] or 678-832-1223. BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY The Bereavement Ministry will host a 10-week program for those impacted by the loss of a loved one. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm beginning October 5 through December 7. A support group program is a well proven method to address the many issues that can accompany grief. WHY GO IT ALONE? You can register via email at [email protected] by leaving your name and phone number. PRAYER CHAIN It’s easy to join and actively participate in this ministry, especially in our current state of lockdown. Prayer requests are distributed via e-mail to pass along intentions of parishioners, AND WE PRAY. This is a very active ministry at St. Peter Chanel and we believe in the power of prayer! Faith, Hope and Love . . . Are these present in your marriage? Have you given up hope that they can be? In 1 Corinthians 13:13 Jesus tells us the greatest of these is Love. Living in a marriage that is missing love can be difficult. If you have given up hope that your marriage can and will get better, ask your spouse to consider attending a Retrouvaille program. Retrouvaille is an international Christian-based ministry that offers a three-stage program to help couples improve their marriages. First, a weekend program is attended, followed by post-weekend meetings. Finally, an on-going monthly small group of couples gather for support and growth. If improving your marriage is important to you, reach out today. For more information about our upcoming Retrouvaille Weekend, September 24-26, 2021, contact: Andy and Lilly @ 770.912.4743 or visit our website: HelpOurMarriage.org.
