The vision of BBB® is an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other.

In this spirit, we’re pleased to conduct our annual awards program to gain public recognition for businesses committed to ethical marketplace practices. Each year, businesses are selected through a regional competition to receive a Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics. Regional winners are eligible to compete in the International Torch Awards for Ethics competition.

Entry QualificationsBBB Torch Awards for Ethics is open to all for-profit businesses headquartered in Central, Coastal, Southwest Texas and the Permian Basin. Entrants must be in business for at least three years and meet all financial obligations. Businesses must have at least a “B” rating; BBB Accreditation is not a requirement. Winners can only enter once every three years.

Entrants will compete with like-size businesses based on the number of employees at your headquarters and all branch locations. The categories are 1 - 10; 11 - 49; 50 - 99; 100 - 499; 500+ employees.

What Does My Company Win?Winning the BBB Torch Awards for Ethics competition comes with unique recognition and honors including:

• Announcements made via BBB’s social media channels.• Lifetime use of the BBB Torch Award Seal (As long as winners maintain a “B”

rating with BBB).• Personalized Torch Award trophy presentation by BBB.• Announcement and recognition at the BBB Annual Meeting in February 2017.• Mentioning in local media outreach campaign.

What Does My Company Submit?BBB Torch Awards criteria is broken down into six categories:

• Criteria 1: Leadership Commitment to Ethical Practices• Criteria 2: Communication of Ethical Practices• Criteria 3: Leadership Practices to Unify the Organization• Criteria 4: Organizational Commitment to Performance Management Practices• Criteria 5: Organizational Commitment to Ethical Human Resource Practices• Criteria 6: Organizational Commitment to the Community
