FROM THE DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENTDear Parents and Community Members,
The state report card is designed to offer a comprehensivepicture of BendLa Pine Schools. On the individual schoolreports, 86% of our schools received overall ratings of 4 or 5,with 25% of our schools rated in the top 10% of Oregonschools. While results are good overall, we have not achieved equalresults with all groups of students. Increasing achievement withall is a high priority of our schools. Considerable attention hasbeen placed on increasing academic rigor throughout thedistrict and special attention is being directed to improvingresults. With a focus on college and career readiness, BendLa PineSchools began use of the ACT college readiness testing of all8th through 11th grade students in 2007. Since 100% of ourstudents take the ACT, the percentage taking the SAT exam
has declined. The use of the ACT tests has increased thecollege readiness focus of students and improved instructionalprograms. We appreciate greatly the involvement of parents andcommunity in support of our schools. We look forward to acontinued partnership this year.
Thank you,
Superintendent | Ron Wilkinson
