Intel has launched its latest collaboration technology software: Intel Unite. This software is designed to bring together existing conferencing solutions, both hardware and software, into a simple and intuitive user experience. Intel Unite allows for an easy integration into existing solutions and environments with enhanced security and an extensible range of features.

Intel Unite provides its users with several advantages, most importantly conference rooms and meetings becoming smart and connected. Companies can benefit from wireless display for business, wireless docking, and enhanced battery life, which together provide a better work

environment. With the new software, everyone, from across the globe, can interact with the content, annotate with the image in real time, and then quickly and easily share files.

With the combination of select Intel Core vPro processor-powered mini PCs and the Intel Unite software product, collaboration and meeting productivity is taken to the next level, transforming existing conference rooms into smart and connected meeting spaces with enhanced security.

Nass Nauthoa, Regional General Manager GCC, commented that “As part of our continued vision to help organisations transform their workplace, Intel is now offering

software that enables a cost-effective and easy way for employees to collaborate and spend more time getting work done and less time fumbling with wires and equipment”.

According to a recent survey, 62 percent of corporations are now undergoing a workplace innovation and beat competition. Intel is leading the way with technologies ranging from new wireless capabilities to business-ready form factors to leading-edge security to help organisations modernise and develop a better way to work”.

With Intel Unite, meeting organisers share a unique, rotating PIN with users to allow them to join a session quickly, with security in mind. The PIN

helps to identify proximity and owner, so organisers can determine who they will or won’t allow onto their corporate network. The data is encrypted with 256-bit Secure Sockets Layers (SSL) ensuring that it remains in the conference network. The solution stays within the virtual walls of your business and is not dependent on additional vendor solutions.

Sameh Helmy, Enterprise Technical Sales Manager, Intel, Middle East, Turkey and Africa, stated that “Intel Unite keeps ease of use in mind and is designed to fit seamlessly into existing IT client deployment models and client software distribution methods, making it convenient to the management. With Intel vPro technology built into the mini PC, IT can also control, patch and repair the device, even when the system is offline”.

According to Mr. Hesham Tantawi, The Vice President at ASBIS MENA: We are very pleased to partnership with Intel for the launch of Intel Unite which will enhance our software portfolio. I believe, it will be successful for ASBIS, and give added functionality to the corporate business across all countries of our presence. Primarily, Intel Unite is a perfect fit that will add value to our Prestigio MultiBoard Solution and elevate more conference functionalities to MultiBoard used in conference rooms where users can have video, audio collaboration and inking remotely.

shift in infrastructure,” he said. “If you continue to use legacy architecture and don’t shift to next-generation architecture then it will be very difficult. We’re saying that the first fundamental step is to build architecture that can simplify all of the complexity that we’ve been dealing with for the last 20-25 years; you need to eliminate all the unnecessary protocols. That sets the right foundation for Smart Cities. Once you have right foundation, you have the agility. Things like the IoT become an outcome as opposed to a pain point. Smart healthcare, smart

Avaya is also using GITEX to launch its ACE-Fx certification programme, which allows customers to be certified for skills with a range of other vendor’s products, and continue their development with Avaya.

The company is also driving the concept of software-defined networking. “SDN is clealy a reality,” Turgeon said. “We intrdocued SDN-Fx last year, our fabric-based mesh Ethernet architecture which is optimal for delivering on Smart Cities. We believe we

can fulfil l the SDN promises; the number of smart solutions we have this year is mind-boggling.”

Turgeon also spoke highly of the Middle East’s technology progress, saying that companies are conscientious of the need for stable yet ambitious technology plans. “You wouldn’t build a fancy bathroom on the third floor of a cracked foundation,” he said. “In the same vein, you can’t build Smart Cities if the foundations are not up to scratch.

“Maybe 10 years ago this region would have followed North America, but not we’re taking the innovation from this region outside.”

Aspenta, a US-based integrated mobile operator and IoT solutions provider, is showcasing exciting new developments particularly

its innovative vehicle tracking products, at this year’s edition of GITEX Technology Week 2015.

Founders and other executives of the company are also present at the Aspenta stand at A5-50 at Hall 5, the company is also hosting live product demonstrations.

According to the company, its Vectu line of GPS tracking devices allows both consumers and businesses to keep track of people, possessions and vehicles - through a web or mobile app. The Vectu PRO, one of the latest additions to Aspenta’s product portfolio, focuses on installed

vehicle security and location awareness.

In addition, the firm states that they can offer low service fees of about AED 11/month (USD 3/month) and no roaming charges for its Vectu products, which is available in over 190 countries.

“Consumers and businesses can locate people, vehicles and assets regardless of their location – eliminating worry or uncertainty,” says Dr. Walid Moneimme, CEO, Aspenta. “We are very excited to participate at GITEX and announce our new vehicle tracking products in Middle East and Africa. As we

F5 Networks is participating at GITEX 2015 with a key focus on delivery of applications.

Vincent Lavergne, Director, Field System Engineering South, EMEA, F5 Networks says, “This has been a continued focus. Our aim is to make the process simple and to help customers deliver the applications, no matter where

the user or application is and at any point of time.”

Today the number of applications is developing rapidly. Customers expect these applications to function smoothly and quickly. Also, another key concern is the security around these applications.

The frontier of data centre is exploding in many places such as private cloud, public cloud as well as Software-as-a-Service solutions. The company aims to make an impact in these areas.

Lavergne adds, “F5 aims to become one of the main security vendors in the next couple of years. Although it might sound like an ambitious objective, we think the timing is right and also because data centre application is moving into

further develop our portfolio, we aim to enable IoT growth by offering solutions that can be deployed worldwide”.

Moreover, the company highlights that their products and solutions can benefit B2B industries by allowing businesses to locate assets worldwide, including transportation fleets, goods and people. Aspenta’s products, according to them, can significantly reduce business expenditures by providing an affordable option with no roaming costs and safer ways to expand operations across borders.

changing the model of security in customers’ organisations. This is the main topic we are going to discuss at GITEX this year. Our focus is on security model, which is application centric.”

Another key focus for not only the vendor but also the industry on the whole is around cloud solutions.

“A couple of years ago at GITEX, most customers were talking about the evolution of the data centre into virtualisation and its consolidation. Most customers have moved this way and today there are concerns about where to store the applications – should I keep them in the data centre or expose them into cloud?

“We tell customers that it is their

decision to keep the applications where they want. But wherever it is installed, F5 is here to help you and provide services around it.”

One of the recent highlights for the vendor has been the release of the version 12 of its new software

“We work with VMware, Cisco and Microsoft in building a joint solution together for private cloud.”

Participating at GITEX for the last five years, the company believes it is a mandatory event to be present at.

“The event has evolved over the years, however, F5 has also evolved together with the event. The event is organised in a professional manner and the visitors are always of good-quality and relevant to our business.”
