A Prayer of Thanks
Most High God, please accept our humble thanks for allowing us to come before Your throne of grace to thank you for the blessings You have bestowed upon us as your children, as your church, and as Your Convention. Not only the blessings, but we thank You for every trial, every challenge, every disappointment we have experienced over the years knowing they were to mold us into the convention You predestined for it to be.
Thank You for the Founders of this august body and the 58 years You have allowed us to remain faithful to the found-ing principles of Fellowship, Progress, Service, and Peace. These principles are relevant today as we struggle on issues of freedom, civil, equal, and human rights, social and equal justice.
Your grace, love, and mercy has brought us to such a time as this. Please continue to grant us strength, courage, and wisdom to face the present battles and those that lie ahead.
We thank You for those who came before us, filled with hope and planted seeds of resistance that we might have a future. We pray that our HOPE will not waiver for it gives us the power, the motivation, the energy, the stability we need to fight the thorns of hatred, inequality, injustice, differences, and wickedness in high places.
“Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us;Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought usFacing the rising sun, of our new day begun,Let us march on till victory is won!
