Principal: Mrs Terrie Payne Condobolin Rd, Ungarie NSW 2669 Ph: (02) 69 759 030 Fax: (02) 69 759 157 Email: [email protected]Web: www.ungarie-c.schools.nsw.edu.au From the Principal’s desk… Welcome to the start of a new school year! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break. It was great to see all of our students back on Wednesday, ready to learn. This year we welcome Mrs Parkinson back to UCS. She has enjoyed her 12 month break and has loved her first two days back in the classroom. We also welcome Sarah Mackenzie who is working as an SLSO. Our 2020 classes are as follows: Primary K/1 Classroom Teacher: Miss Kate Johnston Year 2/3/4 Classroom Teacher: Mrs Leanne Parkinson Year 5/6 Classroom Teacher: Mrs Mareea James Mrs Wilson and Mrs L Payne will teach across the three classes and Mrs McClintock will continue with UCS YUM. Mrs Atkins (AP) is working with all teachers across the school. Secondary Year 7 Year Advisor: Mrs Amy Bussenschutt Year 8 Year Advisor: Mrs Michelle Roscarel Year 9 Year Advisor: Mrs Alison Wason Year 10 Year Advisor: Miss Simone Parkinson Year 11 Year Advisor: Mrs Jane Cooper Year 12 Year Advisor: Mr Philip Cattle We also have Mrs Jackson, Mrs Ward and Mr Atkins (HTSS) in the Secondary department. Welcome to our five new Kindergarten students and their families. They are all settling into the classroom beautifully, which is a credit to Miss Johnston and the Kinder Transition Program that she runs each year. I’m sure there will be five tired little faces by the end of the week after their first week of school! We also welcomed four new students to Ungarie Central School this year, Lucy Cattle (Year 4), Isabella Bamblett (Year 6), Reuben West (Year 8) and Natasha Spencer (Year 11). We know they will all enjoy their time at UCS. Next Monday is our annual school swimming carnival. Students are encouraged to wear their house colour of either green (Kurrajong) or yellow (Wilga). We have set next Wednesday as a backup date in case of rain (we can only hope!). Permission notes were sent home with all students yesterday. These must be returned by Friday or Monday morning at the latest as they include permission for students to attend the swimming carnival. Until next week, Terrie Payne The Humbug 6 th February 2020 Week 2, Term 1

Welcome back to all the students, staff and parents. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed your time relaxing before the big year ahead.
Labelling of Items
As we begin Term 1, many students have come to school with nice new belongings. It would be of great help that all items are clearly labelled with student names so that they can be returned to the correct student if misplaced and found.
Swimming Carnival
Our swimming carnival is being held on Monday (10th of February). ALL Kinder/Year 1 will be returning back to school with Miss Johnston once they have completed their noodle races. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and water bottle.
Swimming for Sport
Years 3-6 will be swimming for sport beginning next Wednesday. Year 2 students that make it through to district level for swimming will also be joining the group. Please ensure that your child has appropriate swimwear and a hat to wear while walking down to the pool.
Humbug Weekly Newsletter reminder
• Community members that have the newsletter sent to them, locally in the mail, your $10 yearly subscription is
now due. (2 week’s grace before delivery
cuts out) Payment can be made at Ungarie Post
Office or at the School Office.
Anyone wanting a newsletter sent to family/friends who live outside our 2669 postcode, will need to pay the $10 plus postage for the year, ie $1
stamp x 40 weeks = $50
• Anyone preferring to have the newsletter emailed instead, can do so by contacting the school
with your email address. This is a free option, (and one we would prefer as it cuts out a lot of paper
and ink cartridges.)
Alternatively, the newsletter can be viewed on the School’s website each
week. ungarie-c.schools.nsw.gov.au
• Adverts to be included in Thursdays newsletter MUST BE emailed, rung through, or handed in at the front
Dear Ungarie, We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage over the last 8.5 years. As we look back on our time as Publicans of the Central Hotel Ungarie it is with pride and fondness. We have over the years provided employment for numerous local residents and supported many community organisations and charities. To those who have supported us through the difficult times such as Mum’s passing and the 2012 floods, words cannot express how much we value and appreciate you. And to those who have helped us celebrate the good times, the addition of Marcus & Stella to our family and all the random late nights, dancing, and chin wags, may you continue to help us celebrate milestones into the future. We did not make the decision to lease the pub lightly, but we wish Katie and Aaron every success. It is with mixed emotions that we say “goodbye for now” to the tiny community with a big place in our hearts. We will be at the pub this Friday (7th Feb) night to say goodbye and would love to see as many as possible there to see us off. Thank you Ben & Rach Murrells
TENNIS Ungarie Tennis Club will be commencing their night comp in a few weeks.
