I will be making a zig-zag pattern in Photoshop.

I started off by forming 5 rectangles using the Shape tool and placing them in such a way that the space between the rectangles is the same width as the width of the rectangles.

Then I selected all the rectangles and selected Merge Shapes from the context menu.

I went to Filter > Distort > Wave and in the Wave window, I changed the settings to the following:

ProcessI created a new Gradient Adjustment Layer and made the colours pink, yellow-orange, and cyan.Then I turned the Adjustment Layer into a Clipping Mask that has an affect on the black rectangles.

I created a new Gradient Adjustment Layer and made the colours yellow-orange, cyan, and pink.Then I turned the Adjustment Layer into a Clipping Mask that has an affect on the white background.

It’s finished. I don’t have an exact purpose for it in mind,

but I’ve found it works well as a desktop background.
