GENERAL INFORMATION The 6 th HyMeX workshop will take place in Primoπten, Croatia, from 7 to 10 May 2012. The workshop will be hosted by the Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia (http://meteo.hr), the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (http://www.izor.hr/web/guest/home) and the Andrija MohoroviËiÊ Geophysical Institute (Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb) (http://www.pmf.unizg.hr/geof/en). The general scope of all HyMeX workshops includes strengthening the scientific links, stimulating the exchange of knowledge and promoting cooperation among HyMeX community. OBJECTIVES Specific objectives of the 6 th HyMeX workshops include: • coordinate at the international level the detailed plans of the Special Observation Periods, especially SOP 1 in Fall 2012 and SOP2 in Spring 2013, • present and discuss the recent scientific advances contributing to improve our knowledge of the Mediterranean hydrological cycle, • review the on-going modeling and observation activities (task team and task support activi- ties) with respect to the specific requirements expressed to answer HyMeX scientific ques- tions (working group activities), • foster further collaboration at the international level to make full use of the data collected within the framework of HyMeX. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM This year the workshop will run across 4 days. The programme will consist of: • working sessions dedicated to the implementation of the programme with special focus on the Special Observation Periods, • plenary oral and poster sessions with an open call for contributions to present and discuss recent scientific progress on the Mediterranean water cycle that meets the objectives of HyMeX Science Plan.
