6.) Dexter Analysis

Page 2: 6.) dexter analysis

Mosquitos are known for being insects that

suck the blood fro other animals. This

represents Dexters nature and how he may

have the sam characteristics, not literally but

loosely based.

Page 3: 6.) dexter analysis

He then goes on to squash the

insect with his hand, implying that

he seeks dominance through this.

Page 4: 6.) dexter analysis

The name is faded with blood and has

drips all around it to imply a washing

sort of affect. This hints at his job or

profession.

Page 5: 6.) dexter analysis

The meat is used to represent

the body’s and meat of a human.

Many of the slides in the

sequence are a visual

representations of something or

are symbolising an idea.

Page 6: 6.) dexter analysis

The egg is cracked by smashing down on a surface,

showing his aggression and anger. Dexter uses fake

heads filled with fake blood to try and recreate a

murder scene. By smacking the head in he gains an

understanding of use of weapon. This foreshadows

those events.

Page 7: 6.) dexter analysis

The splatter of ketchup is as simple

representation of blood splatters,

dexter’s profession. All the shots are of

extreme closeups which imply intensity

and obsession.

Page 8: 6.) dexter analysis

The name of the actor who plays Dexter glitches

when it appears on the screen. This shows the

characters dark side and how he can change

instantly into something more dangerous. The

back of his head is shown and a blurred version

of his face.

When making coffee he presses the filter

down and bubble rise to the surface. This

symbol represents how he disposes of his

bodies, by dropping them in the sea. The

darkness of the coffee also indicates tot he

darkness of dexter.

This floss string is pulled tightly around

his finger and causing his small

amounts of pain as well. This brings

him pleasure and joy. The string is a

symbol for strangling someone and the

shot of his neck when flossing, re-

instates that.

Page 11: 6.) dexter analysis

The extreme close up of the shoe being

tied represents the bags being tied that

he keeps the bodies in. The motion of

the string is fast and quick just like

dexter when killing.

Page 12: 6.) dexter analysis

This is the clip just before we get to see dexter fully and the T-

shirt is pulled over his face and he does this in a low action.

This use of the shot shows that methods he uses to contain

his victims, i.e plastic wrap over their faces. He pulls it tightly

and his face comes through slightly showing how he likes the

feeling of suffocation.

Page 13: 6.) dexter analysis

finally we see his face and it looks tired and

relaxed. We can see that he is a very lied

back character and is not on edge which

juxtaposes the actions he takes when he is

darker, which is represented by the dim lit side

of his face. Showing his darker side, literally.
