I feel privileged to lead such an exciting and vibrant school, which offers great opportunities for our students. It is our goal to make each and every student succeed, by offering them the best possible opportunities to become confident, thoughtful young adults who are prepared for any future challenge, in an exciting and increasingly global world. Our staff provide a stimulating, exciting environment where everyone feels valued and safe and pupils can achieve their full potential. We value highly the partnership between home and school and encourage all parents to take an active part in the education of their children. The partnership between school staff, parents, governors and other stakeholders is an essential one. Children are at the heart of all we do and their social and emotional well-being, as well as, their academic achievements, are very important to us all. At St Peter’s College, we are proud of our caring, inclusive ethos where we set high standards and expectations for our students to achieve their very best. Our superb facilities and dedicated staff will enable us to deliver our programmes in an environment that is intimate, friendly and attuned to every specific educational need. I never cease to be amazed by the events that take place over and above the day to day teaching and I am very grateful to work with such a dedicated, committed and professional team of staff. We were privileged to have a number of staff join St Peter’s College during the course of the year and I want to take this opportunity to inform you of recent developments around staff promotions, resignations, new posts and appointments for 2019:

• Mr Mmotle Nkadimeng who was assigned to St Peter’s College as a Science intern by ISASA for 2018, the Independent School’s Association of South Africa, has now completed his tenure at the College. Ms Kgaogelo Mangena has been appointed as the new Science teacher for 2019.
• Ms Nontobeko Sangweni our IT Intern has been offered a full-time teaching post at Reddam Helderfontein where she will be teaching Matric IT.
• We say goodbye to Mrs Elsa Raseroka who has been in a locum position at St Peter’s College in the EGD department for Term 3 and welcome back Mrs Anchen Muller from maternity leave in January 2019.
• Our Director of Sport, Mr Richard O’Donoghue and his assistant Ms Storm Smith were brought in on a contract basis for 2018 to assist us in the management and the running of the College sports programme. Their contract expires in December and we are most thankful for the contribution that they have made in the running and management of the Sports programme at the College. We have appointed Mr Izak Botha as the Acting Director of Sport & Culture at St Peter’s College, as well as, Mr Dave Short as the Sports Administrator with effect from January 2019. Mr Short is a former Director of Sport at St Peter’s College and brings with him a wealth of educational and corporate experience. Mrs Reta Roux has been appointed as the Sports & Cultural Administrator and will be working very closely with Mr Izak Botha in the Sports & Culture department.
• It is with regret that I announce the resignation of Mrs Rachel Shika as the College Librarian. Ms Alisha Maharaj will be joining us in 2019 and taking over from Mrs Shika. Ms Maharaj is currently teaching at an international school in the UAE and will be teaching Social Sciences.
• Please join me in welcoming Mr Jeffrey Chimwanda as a Mathematics teacher with effect May 2019. Mr Chimwanda is a teacher at Dominican Convent and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. He will be replacing Mrs Nancy Munilall who is joining Reddam Waterfall in January 2019. Due to the fact that Mr Chimwanda needs to work his term’s notice at his current school, Mrs Amrita Bux who is a former Maths teacher and locum at St Peter’s College will be stepping in for the duration of Term 1.
• We have appointed Mrs Ashenda Dorfling as Executive Secretary to replace Ms Elize Mariette. • Mrs Hettie Fourie who teaches Afrikaans, will be returning to the Cape at the end of 2018 after doing a second
stint as a locum at the College. She will be replaced with effect January 2019 by Mrs Natanya van Rooyen who joins us from Dominican Convent.
• Mrs Michelle Horwood has resigned and will be emigrating to New Zealand at the beginning of 2019. Mrs Horwood will be replaced by Ms Lerato Mahlangu a very experienced Maths teacher.
I would like to thank all the staff that are leaving us for the fantastic contribution they make to our students’ development. Thank you to our teachers, sports and cultural staff throughout the school, for the time and effort they have put in to ensure that our students are able to participate and compete in our rich and varied academic, sporting and cultural programme.
Finally, to the parents, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and co-operation and interest in your children’s education who continue to be a delight to work with and to teach. The triangle of support between the student, the school and yourselves, is so very important and one which we value very much indeed. To those who do everything they can to follow the College’s core values of “Relationships, Responsibility, Respect & Resilience”, my thanks – you are the heart and soul of St Peter’s College and I am sure you will agree with me that the College is in very capable hands, as together we steer this ship "Bravely Into The Future". I hope you have a well-deserved break, and I look forward to welcoming you back in 2019. “In Futurum Fortiter” Regards, Mr Rui Morais Headmaster
