The students are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge of coding and programming skills through the use of different robots. NEW SCHOOL OPERATIONS In line with the Department of Education and Training Victoria guidance, drop off at the commencement of the school day and collection at its conclusion include, but are not limited to the following processes:

• School Drop-off to occur between 8:50am and 9:05am. Classrooms will be open from 8:55am, and all students should wait outside their classrooms immediately upon arrival. Students should not enter the school grounds prior to 8:50am unless attending OSHClub

• Older siblings will be permitted to collect younger students at their classrooms from 3:20pm to meet parents; all other students will be dismissed at 3:30pm

• Wherever possible, parents and carers must avoid entering the school grounds, and should arrange meeting points with students outside the school fence line

• Only the parents of students in Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 should enter the school grounds to collect students at the end of the day, where there is not an older sibling to collect these students

• Where a gate around the school is congested please be patient or seek an alternative entry and exit point

• Staff will be located at different entry points around the school to ensure students feel safe and supported at drop off and collection times. Please support this process by moving on once you have said goodbye to, or have collected, your child. Playgrounds will not be available for use at the end of the school day.

• Parents should not congregate near entry ways, gates and classroom doors. Please be patient with this process and observe physical distancing guidelines at all times.

We appreciate your continued support throughout the challenges we are all facing. CURRICULUM DAY – Friday 13th August The school will not be open on Friday 13th of August as it is a designated Curriculum Day. The staff will be working online through video conferencing tools with consultant Louise Rowe, in the area of Student Agency. FOUNDATION (Prep) ENROLMENTS for 2022 We are finalising Foundation student enrolments for 2022. If you are a parent at our school and have a younger sibling to enrol for next year, please contact Ms Simone Shoppee via email [email protected] or call the school office between 8:30am and 4pm on 8847 3200, Monday to Friday. Enrolment documents are available on the school website. Our transition into Foundation starts in Term 4 with visits to the school for next year’s Foundation students and parent information sessions. DRIVING and PARKING AROUND OUR SCHOOL Parents are reminded to drive with extreme care and caution around the school. The ‘laneway’ between the school and Pinewood shopping centre, is also a very busy thoroughfare for students and parents at the beginning and end of each school day. Pedestrian crossings around the school and in the Pinewood Shopping Centre, are extremely busy at the start and end of the day, with the two Crossings directly connected to the school in Pinewood Drive and Toombah Street, supervised each day at 8:20am - 9am and 3:20pm - 4pm. The laneway is ‘privately owned land’ and is not part of the school. The laneway is not designed to carry the volume of school traffic that it does, therefore, extra care and patience is required for any drivers using this area. Please be aware of the parking restrictions and regulations that apply around the school. Andrew Thomas Acting Principal

OSHClub News Olympic Optimism! Last week we all had a whole lot of fun embracing the Olympics with many crafts and group games for the children to participate in. Some children made their own Olympic torches out of cardboard rolls and cellophane, while others made the Olympic rings with coloured pipe cleaners. We are also focusing on our sustainability and are designing activities that ensure we are reusing our resources. Maia is shown below proudly holding her ‘paper picture’ which she made out of our scrap pieces of coloured paper that we did not want to go to waste! How awesome is it!

New Club! The Eco-Warriors: Starting from next Tuesday we will be running an exclusive Kids Club for 5 weeks only! The Eco-Warriors Club will cover all things sustainable and environmental and involves making fun crafts that can even be used once taken home. We are ordering in supplies as we speak and can’t wait to get started with any children wanting to participate on Tuesdays. We will begin next week with a Nature Scavenger Hunt! P.S. If any families have empty egg cartons that they could donate to OSHClub for the Eco-Warriors Club we would be greatly appreciative!

Child Care Subsidy: Many families are eligible for Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which can reduce the cost of Outside School Hours Care by up to 85%. Pinewood OSHClub is CCS approved, so we encourage all families to find out whether they are eligible. To establish what level of CSS you may be entitled to please contact the Centrelink Family Line on 13 61 50. We are so excited to be back up and running at high capacity again!
