The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Negombo. Day 2 Negombo – Kandy B/L/D After breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will be taken on a city tour of Negombo. It is a beach town mainly inhabited by the fisher-folk. The town is located along the picturesque Negombo lagoon, along which hundreds of fishing boats and catamarans could be seen. Known as Little Rome due to the strong Catholic influence, Negombo is dotted with several churches, some dating from the earliest colonial times. After lunch at a local restaurant, stop at Spice Garden in Mawanella. Continue to Kandy (3 hours 10 minutes). In Kandy, you will visit Upper Lake Drive, Market Crafts Centre, Gem Museum and Meera Makkam Mosque. Enjoy a colorful show where you will see the mind blowing Sri Lankan culture. Transfer to the hotel for check in. Overnight in Kandy. Day 3 Kandy – Nuwara Eliya B/L/D After breakfast and check out from the hotel, continue to Nuwara Eliya (2 hours 40 minutes). Upon arrival, experience scenic train (optional), the very first steam trains were running in Sri Lanka to bring tea. It is the greatest commercial export of the colonial Ceylon, to Colombo. Visit the tea plantation to observe the tea processing. Ceylon tea is world’s famous for its high quality and has remained a major contributor to the island’s economy for generations. After lunch at a local restaurant, go on a city tour of Nuwara Eliya. Often referred to as ‘Little England’, this genteel highland community does have a rose-tinted, vaguely British-country- village feel to it, with its colonial-era bungalows, Tudor-style hotels, well-tended hedgerows and pretty gardens. Visit Victoria Park, Lake Gregory and Lake Park where you will enjoy your evening view. Transfer to the hotel for check in. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya. Day 4 Nuwara Eliya – Colombo B/L/D After breakfast and check out from the hotel, return to the capital city of Sri Lanka, Colombo (5 hours). En-route, stop at Kitulgala, a place where the famous “Bridge on the River Kwai film is made. Then, witness the beauty of St. Clairs Falls and Devon waterfalls. Upon arrival in Colombo, you will see the Cinnamon Gardens, Fort, Sea Street, the Bazaar area, Dutch Church, BMICH, and the Independence Square. In the evening, transfer to the hotel for check in. Overnight in Colombo. Day 5 Colombo B/L After breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will be taken to visit Jamiul Alfar Masjid. This mosque is remarkable because the architecture is Indo-Saracenic, incorporating pomegranate-shaped domes. But the most extraordinary feature is that each brick is painted red or white and used in contrasting designs, which gave rise to its common name, the Red Mosque.
