At a throughput of up to 1,200 tubes/hour, the HSS is ideally suited for rapid and effi cient sorting of sample tubes before they are placed into analyser systems.
Depending on the sample material, centrifuged or non-centrifuged tubes are placed directly onto the HSS feeder platform in their respective racks.
The HSS registers the barcode and cap colour, opens the sample tubes according to the respective workstation and sorts them into the specifi ed rack types (e.g. Abbott, Beckman, Roche, Siemens etc.) for analysis.
After routine analysis, the tubes can be sorted or taken directly from the analyser racks, recapped and transferred to archiving racks.
The standard layout designed for one confi guration of carriers can be easily and completely modifi ed with a FlexPlate, enabling the use of a variety of source and target carriers for routine or archival processing.

• Compatible with most racks or carrier types
The PVS 1625 is a tailor made automation system for pre- and post-analytical processing of samples. It is able to handle any kind of rack and tray type. As an open system, it is complementary to any analytical platform or can be used independently.
Loading of unracked or racked sample tubes is via the Bulk Loader (see page 10) or in racks via the loading platform, which is suitable for closed and open tubes.
ID modules for reading barcodes, identifying tube types via camera and detecting the fi ll level are available.
Barcoded secondary tubes are prepared and the requested volume is dispensed at the Aliquoter. No more sample mix-ups will occur and the available volume will be used in the most effi cient way.
Depending on the module, recapping with an archiving push cap (for any tube diameter between 13 and 16 mm) or screw cap (for SARSTEDT tubes with 13 or 15 mm diameter) will be performed to close tubes for archiving or send-aways.

Sample loading
• Bulk Loader
Sample loading: With the Bulk Loader module closed specimens are supplied to the individual target units. Just dump tubes into the Bulk Loader – no sorting or handling required.Alternatively, open or closed sample tubes in any rack or tray are placed onto the loading platform and fed into the system. Using the FlexPlate (see above) enables a maximum choice of sample carriers.
Aliquoting
Aliquoting: The aliquoter provides barcoded secondary tubes with precisely dosed volumes. Sample mix-up is avoided and the available sample volume is used in the most effi cient way. Refer to page 28 for information on available secondary tubes.

Identifi cation

Identifi cation: For effi cient sample processing, each tube must be identifi ed by the barcode. The barcode may also include information on the type of specimen to be analysed. Last but not least, the tube type plays an important role to ensure trouble-free processing. ID modules with a range of functions such as reading barcodes, identifying tube types via camera and detecting the fi ll level are available.
FlexPlate
Sorting and archiving: According to requests received from LIS (laboratory information system) or a strictly defi ned concept (cap colour, tubes) are automatically sorted to any rack or carrier types (refer to FlexPlate, p. 16).
For the BL 2000, tubes are distributed to bins assigned to individual working areas.
Tubes sorted for archiving are registered in a protocol that includes the tube ID, carrier number, position on the carrier, and time stamp so that tubes can be easily traced for further analysis.Assemble a system tailored to your individual needs!

The Petri Dish Transfer System transports the dish
stacks pre-sorted by the POS 720 to the individual
workstations. The free-standing system provides
customised solutions and is adjustable in height within
a defi ned range. Laboratory tables and benches can
be conveniently positioned close to the PTS.
A separating station with integral scanner regulates
the distance between the dish stacks. Exit points on
the track ensure that stacks are correctly assigned to
the relevant workstations.

The control and operation software is as fl exible as the laboratory automation systems.Software design, attendance and system know-how are among SARSTEDT’s core competencies.
Special features:
• Easy-to-learn system operation
• Swift and simple confi guration
• Transparent system status layout
• Effi cient sample traceability
• Optimal archiving sample administration
• Plausibility check
• Completeness check
• Easy access to information on unidentifi ed samples
• Comprehensive statistical functions
The program is available on a WindowsXP based touch panel PC which is an integral system component.
As a “user interface”, it links both the user to the automation system and the automation system to the laboratory information system (LIS) or any middleware installed. Enabling easy visualisation of system components, it portrays internal sample transport paths, logistical transfer, the orientation and fi lling status of the carriers on the feeding and release platforms, as well as the current status of the functional modules.
The confi guration enables almost unlimited possibilities of parameter assignment to workstations, carriers, and tests, handling general and custom distribution rules as well as processing by order of precedence.
Information on the sample processing status and orders can be easily retrieved, and empirical data compiled and printed. The period of storing information on the data base can be defi ned to customised requirements.
Communication between the automation system and the LIS proceeds on an ASTM based protocol either in the query or batch mode. Moreover, the system is suitably designed for use of additional interface protocols.

With automation advancing in clinical labs, the requirements to be met by blood collection tubes have changed. The tubes must be designed to comply with a range of defi ned preconditions for sample identifi cation using barcode readers, centrifugation, decapping and recapping, sorting, and sample transport in analyser line pucks. The S-Monovette® 75 x 13 mm is ideally suited to meet these requirements and available with any preparation.
Depending on the application, aliquot tubes with 13 or 15 mm diameter are available with and without false bottom, and push or screw cap.If required, the tubes are automatically recapped. Screw cap tubes are perfectly suited for long-term storage and transport.
Archiving caps for any tube diameter from 13 to 16 mm are ideal to minimise the evaporation of sample material during storage. Tubes can be automatically capped, and recapped if analyses need to be repeated.Screw caps are perfectly suited for long-time storage and transport tubes.
Black tips are generally used to dispense samples into aliquot tubes. The fi ll level is determined conductively and the tip immersed for pipetting. During the pipetting process, the tip descends as fi ll levels drop. If the fi ll level has already been established via the ID module (camera), pipetting proceeds at the aliquoter using the blue standard tip. Both tips are kept on stock and used as required for a particular application.
The universal block rack from polypropylene is highly resilient, stackable and autoclavable. It is ideal for use as a carrier to individual workstations at sample distribution systems as well as for archiving. The double- or quadruple-block options, in particular, provide a space-saving solution for sample backup storage. Racks are available in a range of colours for easy identifi cation at the workstation and in archives.
Made from crystal-clear polystyrene, our Petri dishes for use with hot agar are heat-resistant to 80°C. Thanks to their enhanced dimensional stability, they are particularly suited for all automated processing steps from labelling, stacking, streaking, and incubation, to automated analysis.
