were in the Phase 1 Parking lot, due to a broken water line that occurred just days prior to the “Goodbye Covid Dance”, just in case they would be needed, and they were. Thank you, Dick (Gortz), for your foresight. For the plans for the dance to be successful, required a lot of cooperation and many hands, therefore, there are many “THANK YOUS” to pass around. To begin with, when the HOA was notified that all Holiday Park buildings were going to open effective May 1st, it was decided that a celebration/dance was in order and far overdue! HOA 1st VP George Clinch went straight to work and secured an extremely popular, in demand band known as “Tidal Wave.” From the looks of the dance floor, it was never empty, all were enjoying the music and the danc-ing. Great choice George! Next, the HOA contacted Holiday Park Men’s Club President, Brett Mounsey, to request the par-ticipation of the Men’s Club and participate they did! Not only did they cook and serve, but they also provided the hot dogs/

buns/condiments and potato chips at no cost to the HOA or attendees. The Men’s Club also provided the servers and clean-up crew! “THANK YOU, BRETT and All your helpers.” Many hands make light work! That evening’s raffle was also a huge success! In addition to the four beautiful baskets, prepared by Bernie Rabideau, there were seven cash envelopes, making eleven individuals very happy!I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Trustee Don LaMaster for helping with the lights and the cordless mic. Af-ter 14 months we were all a little rusty. Eventually the lights were on in the hallway and Steve Grossl (Big Steve, Park main-tenance), came from home to get the cordless mike working. And he did! All in attendance soon forgot that we had opening night challenges. (That sounds better than “they didn’t know what they were doing!”) All’s well that ends well. While on the topic of “Thank Yours”, I want to thank Bob Duncan, Park Manager, and Steve Grossl, for the patching of the damaged floor in the hall. Had that not been accomplished we might have had to cancel the band and the evening of fun, fellow-ship, and dancing. Finally, and most importantly, a big “THANK YOU” to the Park residents that choose to participate and fol-low the rules, as recommended by the CDC and adopted by the Trustees, requiring the wearing of face mask. Your coopera-tion was greatly appreciated! THANK YOU one and ALL!Another area where cooperation would be GREATLY appreci-ated is the obeying of the posted 15 MPH Speed Limit on the streets of Holiday Park. Stopping for STOP signs would also be appreciated. I am making this request on behalf of the resi-dents of HOLIDAY PARK, many of whom have expressed their concern to me for their personal safety and the safety of their friends and neighbors. The North Port Fire Rescue are in “Our Park” almost daily. We do not want them here because of a motor vehicle accident with serious bodily injury!A Final Note: I attended the final, regular Trustee meeting for the season on May 6th. I would like to, on behalf of all Holiday Park HOA members, and nonmembers, state that the major-ity of residence that I have had an opportunity to speak with, overwhelming feel that the Trustees did a “Yeoman’s job” of protecting us all from a very hideous and dangerous disease that could have been devastating to Holiday Park. For a thank-less job well done, I am extending a collective “THANK YOU to all of the trustees!” Speaking of Trustees and retirement, the HOA lost their Liaison from the Trustees when Karin Anderson completed the last Trustee meeting. Karin, on behalf of the HOA Council, “Thank You” for your service to the HOA as the Trustee Liaison, con-cerned resident and friend. We enjoyed your, although brief, time with the Council. Collectively we wish you clear skies and calm seas as you transition back to being one of us, a Park resi-dent with nothing but time on your hands to do as you choose. ENJOY!-MARK YOUR CALENDAR’S FOR SUMMER FUN IN THE SUN-Sunday, July 4th , Independence Day, will be celebrated with a Chicken dinner with all the fix ins. HOA 2nd VP Don-na Mills will be selling tickets for $10 per person. Ticket sale dates will be displayed on the electronic board. The meal will be served in the PH 1 Main Hall at a time to be determined. The second dinner will take place on Monday, Septem-ber 6th (Labor Day). The meal will be TACO’S! Tickets will be sold, prior to the dinner, for $8 per person. Ticket sale dates will be on the electronic board. This meal will also be served in the PH 1 Main Hall, time to be determined. Finally, there will be an Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the HOA, on August 15th. Tickets will be sold on Monday

& Tuesday, August 2nd & 3rd in the Phase 2 Hall Bridge Room. Tickets are $3/person. The “Ice Cream Social” will be held in Ph 1, Main Hall. I understand, from an exceptionally reliable, unidentified source, that the ice cream is being purchased from “SCOOPS”!While on the topic of ice cream socials, I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation, and that of the HOA and residents, to Nancy Crosby for the many years that she coordinated all phases of the summer Ice Cream Social. No one will ever know the number of hours or amount of ice cream Nancy was personally responsible for. But it was a bunch! Due to her many activities within Holiday Park at this time Nancy decided to lighten her load and lay aside some of her many responsibilities. Thank you, Nancy, for your many years of dedication to Holiday Park and the Summer Ice Cream Social. Your service to the residents of Holiday Park is genuinely appreciated. THANK YOU, NANCY!Finally, Jim and Tammy Oliver volunteered to do an eve-ning of Karaoke at a time and place to be determined. Jim and Tammy will be in touch with me, and I will publish the date, time, and location in a future issue of this column. In-formation as to time and location will also be displayed on the electronic bulletin board.HOA 2nd Vice President Donna Mills will be coordinating all summer activities on behalf of the HOA. Thank You Donna, I appreciate your willingness to coordinate these activities so that the summer residents will have something to look forward to after the “COVID PANDEMIC” shut everything down for the better parts of 2020 and 2021. A Closing Thought: “The truth is rarely pure and never sim-ple.” Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being EarnestBe safe, be well, be happy! Sincerely,John E. Rabideau, President Holiday Park HOA

TRUSTEE Doesn’t it feel great to toss those pesky masks and meet face-to-face with you neigh-

bors once again? On May 6, the Board of Trustees removed all Covid-19 restrictions from all indoor and outdoor activities in the Park. We will continue to monitor the virus situation should one of the many variants become a threat, but fingers crossed, we have seen the last of this scourge. We are espe-cially pleased that only a very few of our residents tested posi-tive, but none we know had serious symptoms. Trustees approved the budget for the fiscal year October 2021 through September 30, 2022. Maintenance fees will increase by $9.58/mo. beginning January 2022, with your new tax bill. The money will be set aside for extensive capital improve-ments to our public buildings and infrastructure, which is deteriorating rapidly. Our 50yr old buildings are showing age with water pipe leaks, sewer collapses, electrical failures and roof leaks becoming routine. Maintenance costs are rising at an alarming rate. The Board has determined that it is time to begin a much-needed major renovation of our main building. Very prelimi-nary estimates of the cost of such work, including repaving of Tuscola, Phase 1 and 2 entrance roads, replacing the cyclone perimeter fence with black iron (or aluminum) fence, replac-ing diseased palms along Tuscola, as well as a major renova-tion of the main Phase 1 building will be approximately 2 mil-

the coach, where the garbage tote is stored, to dispose of the “Bag of Poop” in the neighbor’s personal garbage tote! That is WRONG on so many levels.Others may wonder who you are, but you know, and you know what you did is wrong, and you should be ashamed of yourself. I believe that a personal apology is in order. In conclusion, pet owners should care for their pets and re-spect their neighbors! Fortunately, most pet owners are better behaved and considerate of their neighbors. I salute you for that! Thank you!!

LAWNSA reminder that all homes and sheds using vinyl siding for skirting, must have at least a 12-inch barrier protection, around the vinyl siding. Please roll up your garden hoses, or remove if leaving for the season.Thank you everyone for your cooperation, it is truly appreci-ated. Debbie Perla

FYIWater Line Construction North Port Utilities has notified

us that they will be working in Holiday Park throughout the summer months replacing lateral water pipes, that is the pipe which runs from the water main to the water meter in front of your coach. These old galvanized pipes are beyond their life expectancy and have been breaking throughout the Park. New water meters are also being installed. Each home may be out of water for about 20 minutes while the connection is made. There is no additional cost to Holiday Park or homeowners for this replacement.

BICYCLE REGULATIONSNote for residents in Holiday Park. Two items from the 55

Alive Driving Class that are especially pertinent in Holiday Park. GOLF CARTS AND BIKERS MUST FOLLOW THE SAME RULES AS CARS, CARTS AND BIKERS MUST RIDE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AT ALL TIMES. A 3-foot clearance between each vehicle. Also, all cars going by or around bikers must leave a 3-foot clearance. Please keep this in mind when traveling in Holiday Park. A simple test in your own driveway, is to layout something the height of a biker or vehicle and sit behind the wheel of your car.

ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEEThe Architectural Control Committee (ACC) meetings are

held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month and are open to all residents of the park. Permit applications must be submit-ted at least 2 days before the ACC meeting at which your proj-ect is to be reviewed. If applications are not submitted on time, they may not be considered at the next meeting.

Remember, an approved ACC permit is required for all im-provements and all work being done on the outside of your home BEFORE work has begun. A STOP WORK order may be issued if this requirement is violated, or if the project underway

lion dollars. We do not have such funds available to us now, and the projects cannot wait much longer. Accordingly, the Trustees approved a line of credit with a bank which would permit the Park to draw such funds as necessary to com-plete the projects. Money would be drawn only when other dedicated reserve funds were not available, and only when the Trustees approved a project and funding of that project in full or in part with borrowed funds. The added $9.58 per month maintenance fees will be used to either pay cash for the renovation, or to pay the interest and principal on the line of credit, when used. The line of credit portion used would be paid over 20 years at a fixed interest rate of 4.0%.Park Manager Bob Duncan has already contacted architects, engineers and received preliminary bids from contractors to begin on the Phase 1 building. We anticipate complete reno-vation of the interior including a new floor in the main hall, removal of the carpet on the walls and replace with sound deadening material, removal of the interior of the entry hall, adding a window where the library shelves are now, replacing all exterior doors and windows, self-opening main doors for disabled residents, renovation of the offices including add-ing windows and roof improvements. Also included will be upgrade of our sewer, water and electrical systems. Trustees hope construction can begin by January or sooner. Some have asked if we can make the building into a hurricane shelter. That would be impractical since we would have to build a much stronger roof system, and under federal regula-tions, store water, and food. If we took federal or state funds to supplement the project, we would be obligated to open the building to the public, which we believe most residents would oppose. Our CPA firm completed the audit of last year’s books and again gave us a “gold star”. We are in excellent financial shape and the accounts are kept properly, according to the accoun-tants. Thanks to office manager Barbara Vitolo and treasurer trustee Don LaMaster for keeping us on the straight and nar-row. Have a great summer. I’ll be watching the building renovation from my place at the deep end of the pool! Dick Gortz, Chairman HAVE YOU HAD YOUR COVID-19 VACCINATION YET?If not, you can call the following number to schedule your vac-cination: 1-941-347-9919. You MUST dial the number EXACTLY as you see it. AREA CODE and ALL. Good Luck! This number is in Port Charlotte and is the Charlotte County Covid Vaccina-tion scheduling hot line.

DOG OWNER’S TAKE NOTICE!By John E. Rabideau, President Holiday Park HOAI received a phone call from a resident who requested that I listen to their concern. It is because of that conversation that I feel compelled to write this article!Pet ownership comes with responsibilities and obligation’s to both the pet and your neighbors. As a pet owner you are obligated to care for your pet by feeding, grooming, exercis-ing, and cleaning up what pet’s naturally do after being feed. They poop! Additionally, as a good neighbor you are obligated to avoid conflict, as well as actions that will lead to conflict. Good neighbors do not trespass, uninvited, onto another’s private property. It appears that in this instance the pet owner has fulfilled all the above, except for respecting their neighbors! The dog owner in this instance, cleaned up after“Fido” then trespassed, onto private property, to the back of

-MARK YOUR CALENDAR’S FOR SUMMER FUN IN THE SUN-by John E Rabideau, Holiday Park HOA President

Sunday, July 4th , Independence Day, will be celebrated with a Chicken dinner with all the fix ins. HOA 2nd VP Don-na Mills will be selling tickets for $10 per person. Ticket sale dates will be displayed on the electronic board. The meal will be served in the PH 1 Main Hall at a time to be deter-mined.

Tickets will be sold on Monday & Tuesday, August 2nd & 3rd in the Phase 2 Hall Bridge Room. Tickets are $3/person. The “Ice Cream Social” will be held in Ph 1, Main Hall. I understand, from an exceptionally reliable, unidentified source, that the ice cream is being purchased from “SCOOPS”!

While on the topic of ice cream socials, I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation, and that of the HOA and residents, to Nancy Crosby for the many years that she coordinated all phases of the summer Ice Cream Social.

Finally, Jim and Tammy Oliver volunteered to do an eve-ning of Karaoke at a time and place to be determined. Jim and Tammy will be in touch with me, and I will publish the date, time, and location in a future issue of this newsletter. Information as to time and location for all summer activi-ties will be displayed on the electronic bulletin board and the HOA President’s monthly article.

ATTENTION ACTIVITIES DIRECTORSIn the next 2021-22 Season of our activities and your group

has a new leader please let us know so we can list them in the Newsletter.

BEANBAG BASEBALLBeanbag Baseball will resume on Saturday May 8th in the

main hall. If the date changes due to floor repairs, we will postit on the electronic sign. As of this printing, masks must be

worn inside all buildings. First pitch at 10 am. PLAY BALL!Don & Wiz LaMaster

day afternoon rides, please give our coordinator Roy Auger your contact information and he will send you the details of the upcoming rides. Roy’s email is [email protected]. We meet at Phase 2 parking lot each Tuesday, weather permitting, and depart at 1:30 pm. Phillis VanKirk

HOA 2nd Vice President Donna Mills will be coordinat-ing all summer activities on behalf of the HOA. Thank You Donna, I appreciate your willingness to coordinate these activities so that the summer residents will have some-thing to look forward to after the “COVID PANDEMIC” shut everything down for the better parts of 2020 and 2021.

“THANK YOU” TERESA & DAVEWednesday afternoon’s at 3:00 PM will find Teresa & Dave,

somewhere in Holiday Park, playing their music so that the res-idents of the Park are entertained. Most recently they played at the Men’s Club Picnic Area, just behind the shuffleboard courts in Phase 1. Teresa & Dave have been doing this week after week since, I believe March, to give the residents of Holi-day Park something to look forward to each week when they would gather with friends, maintaining “Social Distancing” by remaining in their golf carts while enjoying the music. Teresa & Dave were the sunshine that lighted our Wednesday’s. Un-fortunately, it had to end for the summer on a dramatic note. Teresa gave Dave, her family (the band) and all in attendance a rather big scare when she blacked out. Teresa knows how to close a show!! (Sorry Teresa, but the devil made me say it)

Seriously, we were all relieved when the Ambulance left the Park and Teresa was not in it. Teresa, we are all glad that you are okay. Dave & Teresa, “THANK YOU” for your dedication, com-mitment, and willingness to entertain the residents of Holiday Park because of your love of music and your willingness to share your talent with others. People do not realize that what you do involves a great deal of work to setup and take down your equipment each week. And heavy it is!

So, until this fall, the Picnic Area will be silent, and the resi-dents of Holiday Park will be anxiously waiting for the return of ‘Teresa & Dave’, and company, to play their music and bring smiles to the faces of ALL in attendance. Have a great summer. We are already looking forward to October, or whenever you return and get set up and start playing again. John Rabideau

HOA DANCESAs we end our unusual season, it appears that next season

will be much better. We anticipate we will be selling dance tickets starting in October 2021. Remember to purchase your home owner’s card when they become available. You'll need it to purchase dance tickets. So be safe, have a great summer. See you next season.

HOLIDAY PARK PHOTO DIRECTORY UPDATEThe new photo directories are in and are at the office wait-

ing for you to pick up. ALL residents of Holiday Park should pick up their copy (even if you did not have a photo taken last Season). The directories are the new format and do not have photos of all activities as the company would allow us to have anything other than the photos of residents and renters. I have been notified that Lifetouch will no longer be in business. As you might have guessed COVID took its toll on them as well. This Season as I had stated earlier, due to COVID, we would not be able to have photos taken under any circumstances. So now we will have to try to find a new photo company for next Sea-son (we hope). Hope this finds you all safe and healthy. Look-ing forward to seeing you in March. Mary Margaret, Photo Chairman
