When climbing a ladder, the rule of thumb to follow regarding safety is:

The distance from the bottom of the ladder should be 1/4 the length of the ladder

1.) a.) If you have a 16 foot ladder how far away from the wall should the bottom of the ladder be so you are safe?

b.) How far up will the ladder reach?

Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem

If the square of the length of one side of a triangle equals the sum of the squares of the lengths of the two other sides, then the triangle is a right triangle.
