Our Company declines all responsibility for damage due to any type of modifications madeon the Hardware and Software due to connection to other instruments not carried out byour personnel, or not previously authorized by our firm.In case the apparatus is damaged do not switch it on until it has been repaired by atechnician from our company's Service Department.Any type of electric operation required to install or repair the instrument must be carriedout by our staff; do not install in any other way.The instrument should be used under the environment conditions and according to safetynorms given in points II and III of the following chapter, in order to guarantee that theresults obtained by the instrument are compliant with those given in the technicalspecifications.
Use this instrument only after reading this manual
II. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The DROP Automatic Microplate Washer guarantees the maximum safety to the operatorduring its operation. However, as there is dangerous internal voltage, the operator mustfollow the general safety rules:
Make sure that the Power Supply has the required voltage before switching on theinstrument
The instrument must have a ground connection. In case of an electric short circuit theground connection eliminates the danger of electric contact with the external metalparts.
In case of a current surge (due to a short circuit or another malfunction within theinstrument or due to sudden line voltage variations) the protection fuse located on theback will intervene; in this case, if the new fuse burns out again after having beenreplaced with another of the same kind, the instrument must be disconnected and theService Technicians contacted.
Do not use the commands or adjustments inside the instrument and notify the servicestaff as soon as any anomaly occurs during functioning.

Before starting any type of intervention inside the instrument switch it off anddisconnect the power cable. Switch the instrument off from the Main Switch. (Press Oto switch off). Unplug the power cable to disconnect it; do not pull the cable.
Any repairs to the instrument must be carried out by the Technical Assistance staff.
Any electric operation that is necessary for the installation must be carried out byqualified staff.
If the instrument is damaged do not switch it on until it has been repaired by atechnician of the Factory Assistance Service.
Disconnect the instrument if it is left inactive for a long period.
III. ELECTRICAL FEATURES AND LINE DISTURBANCE
Disturbances on the power line may be caused by several factors such as:
- Starting and stopping of electric motors.- Atmospheric phenomena.- Connection and disconnection of high line loads.
It must be stressed how serious power supply line disturbances have negative effects onthe system.
An efficient ground connection is necessary to reduce line disturbances and guarantee themaximum safety to the operator.

2.1 INTRODUCTION
The paragraphs below illustrate the procedures to follow for correct installation of theDROP Automatic Microplate Washer. This information concerns: instructions for transportation, storage and unpacking the instrument; reference documents for installation; procedures and particular requisites for installation; test procedure, designed to ascertain that the unit has been installed correctly and is
able to carry out its function.
2.2 TRANSPORTATION, STORAGE AND UNPACKING
There are particular precautions to be observed in the transportation and storage and inunpacking the equipment to prevent it from being damaged or deterioration due toprolonged storage in an unsuitable area.
TRANSPORTATION
In its packaging the instrument weighs about 12 Kg and about 10 Kg without packaging. The dimensions are 49 x 46 x 35 (h) cm with packaging, and 40 x 37 x 17 (h) cm without. No special equipment is therefore required for transporting, loading or unloading theinstrument in its box. When handling the equipment the warning on the outside of the packaging (TOP-BOTTOM) must be respected.
STORAGE
The instrument must be kept in its original packing consisting of wood cases and stored inobservance of the TOP-BOTTOM signs marked on the outside. In setting the crate down, provide enough room for any handling and removal, as well asany necessary inspections. If the packing has been damaged during storage or shipment, it will at least be necessaryto verify that the instrument has no visible damage; the packing must be repaired beforestoring the instrument. If any damage is found, please contact the Manufacturer. The type of packing used does not guarantee protection or isolation should the crate be
stored in a damp place; the storage room must be dry and free of dust.

2.3 PREPARATION OF THE INSTALLATION SITE
The operating requirements are extremely important in the choice of the room where theinstrument is to be installed. In any case the Automatic Microplate Washer must never beinstalled in dusty places or with caustic fumes.DROP Automatic Microplate Washer dimensions are 40 (width) x 17 (height) x 37 (depth)cm. However it is important to allow sufficient space around the instrument for facilitatingmaintenance operations.
Leave at least 10 cm on the back, it allows all the electric connections, the right position forthe tubes (straight) and a good heat dissipation.
2.4 CORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE INSTRUMENT
The main action to be taken for installing the instrument are: Choice of a person in charge of following all the installation procedures and contacting
the Manufacturer for any clarifications. Choice of the environment where installation is to take place. Definition of the best position in the installation site. Purchase of additional accessories (supports etc.) apart from those supplied with the
instrument .
Although the Automatic Microplate Washer has been designed with components which areable to operate in unfavorable conditions, a thorough check of the surroundings is usefulfor achieving the most reliable performance.
High temperatures increases component-aging speed, producing temporary and/oreven permanent transformations in the same.
An extremely dusty environment may cause an abrasive action on the componentsand therefore reduce their life.
Vibrations may cause deterioration of the mechanical parts of the instrument. High frequency and high intensity pulses generated in the electronic system or induced
by the surroundings may cause errors in the system. Do not place the instrument near any heat sources like radiators, hot air pipes or in
direct sunlight. Try to avoid rooms where sudden temperature changes occur. Always allow adequate ventilation to avoid internal over heating. Install the instrument on a clean, flameproof and flat surface that has at least the same
dimension of the instrument The instrument must be positioned on the correct feet on the surface.

2.5 AC POWER CONNECTION AND GROUNDING
The room where the instrument will be installed must have a power supply outlet with thefollowing characteristics:
Distribution : 1 phase, neutral and ground
Power Supply : 230 VAC
50 Hz
Power Consumption : 100 VA
A cable with three wires and a plug with 3 contacts is supplied for each instrument forconnection to the power supply and grounding. Never connect the instrument to anungrounded outlet.Grounding that does not comply with standards may be a hazard for the users and causemalfunctioning in the instrument.
2.6 ENVIRONMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INSTALLATION ROOM
Temperature : 10 40 C
Relative humidity : 80%
Altitude : < 2.000 m
Atmosphere pressure : 860hPa-1060hPa.(84.86kPa-104.6kPa)
This is an instrument of Class A. In a residential district this instrument can makeinterference. In this case it can be demanded the user to take suitable measures.

4 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING
4.1 DAILY MAINTENANCE
Routine maintenance will keep the instrument in optimum working conditions.
Cleaning or replacing parts that have come into contact with dangerousbiological materials may cause contamination. Always wear appropriateprotective gloves and face mask during these operations.
Disconnect power supply before maintenance!
Solution must be strictly prevented from entering the pump. After each operation, dispose the waste solution in the waste bottle in time. Before each operation, make surethat the waste bottle is clean. During operation, level of waste solution in waste bottlecannot exceed the indicated borderline. User should pay more attention to this ifwashing more than two pieces of microplates every day.
Before and after operation each time, rinse the hose with distilled water, which is themost effective method to prevent washing tip from jamming due to crystallization ofwashing solution.
