Page 2: 5 Singles’ Travel Spots: What to See, Do and Eatgracelynnefleming.weebly.com/uploads/1/0/0/9/... · looking for a weekend of spontaneity, there are so many places to experience

1. Chicago, Illinois

You may think your “big city” of choice for traveling single would be the Big Apple,but in fact, Chicago is a much more solofriendly escape. There may be someromantic rendezvous in store for you in NYC when you have a significant other tostroll along with you, but the Windy City has culture, adventure and lots of places tointeract and mingle.

Check out Hotel Lincoln for a funky, eclectic and youthful vibe. Visit the FieldMuseum during the day, grab some Chicagostyle deep dish pizza for lunch atBacino’s and catch a Broadwayesque show at night before hitting the lively dancescene later in the evening. But remember, when traveling alone – don’t venture intothe sketchier areas of the city, have your concierge advise you on transportationand which nooks and crannies to stay out of.

2. Maui, Hawaii

Grab your pals and catch a flight to one of the most beautiful, majestic and safest ofall tropical getaways. Not only will you be getting a fresh slice of juicy pineapple atalmost every meal, but you’ll be swimming in crystal clear waters and having someof the most adventurous of experiences.

From taking some solo surfing lessons right on the beach to hopping in a jeep and

hitting the open road to visit a pineapple farm, there are plenty of vacationy spotsto check off the list once you’re on the island.

3. Paris, France

If you’re feeling super adventurous, get out of the country! Paris is a city of love …and you may even find it while you’re there. You’ll get to indulge in pastries,chocolates and some of the most delicate of flavor feasts during your visit. Café deFlore is even known as a spot for solo travelers to meet up, mingle and enjoy with!

Explore the city’s culture, art and incredible stories by dropping in on as many toursand museums as possible. But in the evenings, when the Eiffel Tower is sparkling, check out Franglish, a speeddating type of event that also helps improve yourFrench!

4. Nashville, Tennessee

One of the most upandcoming cities in the U.S. if not the world, Nashville has itall. It’s got history, exciting nightlife, incredible food and even more incrediblepeople. If you’re looking for a location that’s known for its youth and hospitality thisis it!

Take advantage of Uber to travel with locals in a safe environment, pop in atLoveless Café to get a taste of real southern cooking and hit Broadway at night forplaces to dance, meet new friends and most importantly, hear some of the bestmusic from, well, Music City of course!

5. Portland, Oregon

A notso secret of secrets, Portland, Oregon is a place of hip living and quirkyexperiences. If you’re big on the great outdoors, this is a locale that needs to beexplored. Rent a bike and start the adventure, for all you need are two wheels toget around this city with ease.

There are a vast array of food trucks to keep dining expenses low but your tastebuds delighted. Get in on some of the quintessential Portland action by touringsome of the local pubs, visit Powell’s Books, check out why this spot’s nickname isthe City of Roses and if you’re interested in some adult entertainment, this town hasthe most strip clubs per capita in the country – and ones with very specific tastes.

From the outskirts of Nashville, I couldn’t imagine calling anywhere else home.
