There are risks:–Plane crash to or from Lukla Airport (the

worlds most dangerous airport)–Altitude sickness (from mild to life

threatening)–Suspension bridge failure–Yak pushing you off the mountain–Avalanche or rock fall

But life if full of risks right? No risk, no reward.

You will need at least US $3,000.

A comfortable trip is US $5,500. Luxury options US $8,000.

The minimum time you will need is 2 weeks.

Most organised treks are 12-14 days.

Much more comfortable is 3-4 weeks. Allows for bad weather, lost luggage and breathing in that fresh Himalayan air.

Get your butt into shape. Lots of hill walking with a weighted pack is ideal.

More training before = less pain on the track!

There are stories of people who have done no training and completed the trek. But its not pleasant and it will hurt!

Get good gear that will keep you warm, dry and comfortable. Remember to layer.

Consider hiking poles. Warm gloves. Well worn waterproof hiking boots. Light weight day pack.

Leave gaiters, ice axes, ropes and crampons at home. You are not summiting the mountain.
