During Week 7, Room 7 and 8 visited Room 12 to learn

more about life cycles. Room 12 were very knowledgeable

about insect life cycles and very kindly showed us their

insect life cycles they had built using natural materials. After

visiting Room 12, we built life cycles of animals using our

own choice of materials which included lego, loose parts,

playdough and box construction.

ENROLMENTS—KSHS Year 7 2020

Year 6 students were given enrolments packages on Wednesday, for Kelmscott High School. If you intend for your child to attend Kelmscott in 2020, these will need to be completed. Parents can drop enrolment packages in at the high school or leave them at our Front Office and we will pass them on. Please remember to include the information required for enrolment (birth and Immunisation certificate, proof of address, copy of a recent report etc). If you require any assistance with filling out the paperwork, or providing evidence, please contact Ms Della Franca. To enable Kelmscott to plan for incoming 2020 enrolments, applications must be handed in by Friday, 26th July 2019 (end of week 1, term 3). Additional enrolment packages are available from the Front Office.

CHAPLAIN’S CHAT-More than broken pine….

Last Monday, the Year 6 students graduated from our, ‘Rock and Water’ program. Graduation is the crescendo of the program, bringing together all the skills our ‘little masters’ have learned over the past two years and focusing them all into one significant challenge – the breaking of a pine board with their bare hand. Naturally, this can elicit significant student apprehension. However, rather than allowing anxiety to dominate thought and deed, our students trusted the inner power they developed during Rock and Water training to overcome the daunting obstacle. None more so than those who attempted the deed, were unsuccessful, then drew upon even greater depths of courage to try again to break the board. These students displayed high levels of inner strength and willpower to overcome difficulty and disappointment. I am very proud of them all! Major and minor life challenges will inevitably come to us all. No-one is immune. Developing our inner strength will help us be resilient in our time of trial. Our Year 6 students have been growing their inner strength. How about you? How do you do it? Happy holidays, my friends… Mr C (Chaplain)

SPORT-Interschool Cross Country

On Wednesday 3 July, eighteen students travelled to Willandra Primary School to compete in the Interschool Cross-Country. The level of enthusiasm, courage and sportsmanship demonstrated by the students was admirable and they should all be very proud to have accomplished and competed the way they did. Clifton Hills Primary School came 2

nd

behind Willandra Primary School by only 14 points – a solid effort. Well done to our individual medal winners and runner-ups; Brooklyn, Campbell, Cameron and Leila. Thank you to Ms Della Franca for assisting us on the day!
