5 Common Cyber Security Mistakes You Are Making
Chris AndersonWebsite: http://mozzi.coEmail: [email protected]: @mozzichris
1. Not segmenting your digital life
Important stuff
Just for fun or testing
For Spam
A simple analogy: Would you put both eggs and gold bars into your safe? Exactly. Use the throwaway email accounts unless there is a good reason to use your “main” account.
2. Not identifying your critical accounts
Identify your online accounts which contains your banking, payment or deep identity related information (eg: PayPal,
Amazon, internet Banking, email, etc) and double down on security (eg: 2FA) for those accounts
3. Using the same passwords for all your accounts
There’s a saying… don’t put all your eggs in one basket. In the event one of the systems gets hacked, all your
eggs will be cooked. (:
4. Not taking Malware seriously
This is akin to safe sex for your computer/tablet/phones. Only download apps from the official app stores (Apple
Store/Google Play Store/ Windows Store) to minimize the chances of catching something nasty
5. Trusting free WiFi
Just because it’s everywhere doesn’t mean it’s safe. Hackers frequently sniff and capture unencrypted wireless traffic (including your user names and passwords), don’t
make it so easy for them.
