Who am I?

I am a cheetah and Iam 30 inches at theshoulder and Iweigh about 110 to140 pounds, and Iam like a peachcolor with blackdots.

The Early Years

The baby cheetah aresuckled for 2 to 3months but begin toeat meat as early as 3weeks. Their eyes don’topen for a week ortwo, and they arehelpless at first. Whenthey are 4 months thecheetah cub is a lightyellow, and almostcompletely spotted.

Habitat Sweet Habitat

The cheetah ismostly found inopen and partiallyopen savannas. Thewild cheetahs werefound in most ofAfrica, the plains ofsouthern Asia, andthe middle east andIndia.

The cheetah usuallyprey on the smallerantelopes such asTomson’s gazellesand impalas.

Making Tracks

Cheetah tracksmostly look like dogtracks but a littlebigger and youwould mostly findthese tracks in openand partially opensavannas.

The cheetah is built forspeed. It has long, slim,muscular legs, a small,rounded head set on along neck, a flexiblespine, a deep chest,nonretractable claws,special pads on its feetfor traction and a longtail for balance.

Most cheetahs arefound in Africa butonly a few in Asia

The name cheetahcomes from an Indianword meaning spottedone. The young cub hasa long gray blue coatand black underbelly.Early peoples trainedcheetahs for huntingand many civilizations.Cheetahs were sopopular that Akbar,thegreat of India,was saidto have kept a stable ofabout 1,000.

The cheetah can runup to 70 miles perhour,it can runfaster than all otheranimals.
