We have updated our Baptism Preparation materials and are now using a program called Belonging, featuring Fr. Mike Schmitz, from Ascension Press. It is fantastic! This class is not just about the bare Rite of
Baptism. It’s about welcoming your child and your family into a fulilling, rich, spiritual life in our parish community because, through Baptism, we belong to God and to each other.Families who desire this sacrament for their children can contact Becky Howard in the parish ofice. She will pass their information on to one of our new Baptism Coordinators – Suzanne Cody, Amy Meier, and Chris Meier. Because this is a new program with different content, we want everyone who wants a child to receive Baptism to take the class, even if you have attended a class in the past two years. The new format includes 2 sessions (instead of the former single class). These will be presented on the irst/third Sundays of odd months. Baptisms will be celebrated on even months. Expecting parents may attend the classes well in advance of the birth of their child.

The ROSARY…and the importance of the father figure…
When John Paul II was a nine year old child, his mother Emilia died from a weak heart and damaged kidneys. His older brother was 23 at that time and in medical school; young Karol Wojtyla, Jr. was left in the care of his father, Captain Karol Wojtyla, Sr., who was a retired soldier and former tailor. The following is from a book entitled ‘John Paul II, A Life of Grace’ by Renzo Allegri. In this paragraph, the author is describing the father and son right after the mother’s death. “He suspected that Lolek, (Karol Jr.’s nickname), would be a special child. Parents often have these kinds of intuition. No one could have helped…understood or guided the child the way he could. He rolled up his sleeves, pushed aside his own great sorrow and, in his usual style, made a plan. For the next twelve years…Karol Wojtyla, Sr. was father, mother, friend, teacher, role model and playmate for Lolek.” He sacriiced his ambitions so that little Lolek would grow up well. He was the key foundation block in forming his son’s faith… prayer was central in their lives. The presence of Our Blessed Mother and the Rosary were a huge inluence. Little did Karol Sr. know that his boy Lolek would grow up to inluence the world and become the person we all know and love, Pope Saint John Paul II.
Remember, you and your family are always invited to take part in our weekly Rosary for Peace, every Saturday at 4:35 P.M., just before Mass.
