Thursday November 22, 2018 4 DISTRICTS Six gamblers arrested STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Continuing its endeavour to weed out social crime from the society, District Police Samba under the overall supervision of Dr. Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba, arrested six gamblers and recovered stake money of Rs 8,940 in two sep- arate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari- Bari-Brhamana, District Samba. Acting on specific information about gambling in their jurisdictional area, special teams from Police Station Bari- Brahmana headed by Inspr. Ravinder Singh Rakwal, SHO Bari-Brahmana under the close supervision of Sunil Kesar SDPO Bari-Brahmana, conduct- ed raids at the gambling spots first at Railway Colony area of Bari-Brahmana and arrested three gamblers namely Kuldeep Kumar son of Rattan Lal resident of Talab Tillo Jammu, Jagmohan son of Sian Dass resident of Dhiansar, Bari Brahmana and Krishan Lal son of Junk Lal resident of Muraray Chak, Tehsil Bishnah,Jammu along with stake money of Rs. 8,500. Then the police party also conducted raid near Railway Station and arrested three gamblers namely Vijay Ahirwal son of Radha Charan, Narayan Dass son of Ram Krishan and Raj Kumar all residents of Village Khajirao Teh Raj Nagar District Chattarpur (MP) alongwith stake money of Rs. 440. Taking cognisance into the matter, all the gamblers were booked under Section 13 of Gambling Act at Police Station Bari-Brahmana. Man jumps in front of train, dies STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: A man was killed after he jumped in front of a train in Kathua. As per the details, a man jumped in front of a moving train few kilometers from Kathua, in which he got injured. GRP men shifted him to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the man is yet to be ascertained as nothing regarding the same was recovered from him. A message in this regard has been flashed in all the local police stations. STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Eid- Milad-un-Nabi was cele- brated with full religious fervour, gaiety and enthusi- asm across Chenab region on Wednesday. On the auspicious occa- sion of Milad-un- Nabi(Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammed SAW) several programmes includ- ing recitation of Quraan, Dars-e-Quraan, Dars-e- Hadees and Naat Khawani were held throughout Chenab region. To celebrate this auspi- cious day, people gathered in their respective mosque to participate in the congre- gation and processions. At Bhadarwah, the main function was held under the chairmanship of President Anjuman-e-Islamia Bhadarwah Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh at Historical Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah, where hundreds of devotees took part in religious procession which was taken out from Jamia Masjid and after passing through Masjid Mohallah, Pasri Bus Stand, Chinote Bridge, Lancher Morh and Qilla Mohallah culminated back at Jamia Masjid. The action plan to increase the outreach of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme many folds by using digital platform in District Samba was presented by Ajay Sharma, District Information Officer Samba which was approved by members of BBBP in presence of Deputy Commissioner. The digital action plan include media campaign and publicity through print, electronic and social media, documentation of success stories, best prac- tices and dissemination of Beti bachao Beti Padhao scheme over digital platforms like radio spots/ jingles in Dogri, television advertising, digital advertising platforms, development of dedicated apps, electronic Magzines, community engagement through social media and field publicity. Deputy Commissioner Samba told that the digital campaign aims at ensuring that girls are born, nurtured, and educated without any prejudice so that they become empowered citizen of this country with equal rights. She said a holistic media approach is being adopted to create awareness and spread the information in district by giv- ing digital wings to the BBBP campaign. BBBP to get digital bandwagon STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: An intensive inspection of Fertiliser Rake Point Udhampur was carried out on Wednesday by Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Mansoor Ahmad Lone. He was accompanied by Director Agriculture, Jammu, H. K Razdan, who is also Controller of Fertilisers, J and K State. While inspecting Fertilisers Rake Point, Lone instructed the concerned representa- tives of the authorized Railway out Agency (ROA) for fertilisers at Rail Head Point Udhampur, to speed up the process of trans- portation of fertiliser to Valley so as to ensure the smooth and timely supply of fertiliser to the farmers and fruit growers of Kashmir Division. Secretary APD held detailed discussions with State Heads of the fertiliser companies, officers of the Department, and concerned ROA on variety of issues like expansion of Fertiliser Shed to increase the capaci- ty of storage to 3,000 m. Tones from present capacity of only 600 m. Tones, rais- ing of fertiliser dumping platform to protect the fer- tiliser lot from rain water etc. He also directed the Railway out Agency con- cerned to make adequate arrangements to Speed up the process of fertiliser stocking in Kashmir Valley keeping in the view weather condition, availability of transportation etc so that sufficient stock is main- tained well in time.
