1) Assess Your Fitness Levels

Though you probably already have an idea of how fit you are it helps to carry out a fitness assessment to record what your fitness levels are when you start.

You should see what levels your aerobic and muscular fitness are at.

You will also want to assess your flexibility and measure your body fat percentage.

2) Design Your Program

Before you can even start doing anything you will need to design your program.

The first thing you will want to do is consider what your fitness goals are and create a balanced program with those goals in mind.

Remember to factor in recovery days as overtraining will most likely lead to injury.

3) Start Off Slow

One of the most important things you’ll need to remember is not to start out a new routine fast.

You should build up what you are doing overtime as doing too much at once will lead to you injuring yourself.

You may want to have a rest day for every day you exercise at first.

4) Diet

While starting a new fitness program is a commendable thing it will do you no good unless you sort out your diet and give your body the right amount and type of food for fuel.

You should be aiming to eat a balanced diet with all 5 of the following food groups included; Dairy, Fruit, Grains, Lean meats, Vegetables.
