Picture A was painted by Vermeer, in the 17th Century. It is called Girl with a pearl earring,

Picture B was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century. It is called Lady with an Ermine.

These paintings are similar because they portray two young, sophisticated, mysterious women

They are both realistic and detailed.

In both pictures, the background is black, making curved shapes, and bright, luxurious clothes more visible.

In both paintings, the ladies wear jewels.

The pictures are different because Leonardo’s Lady is holding an animal (an Ermine)

In Vermeer’s painting, she is looking at the painter while we do not know what Leonardo’s Lady is looking at
