4.4 Struktur- und Morphologieänderung während des Laugens
Untersuchungen mit Atomabsorptionsspektroskopie zur Löslichkeit des Nickels in der
Lauge zeigen, daß sich Nickel, anders als Aluminium, nicht löst. Die Aluminatlauge der 30
min lang bei Raumtemperatur gelaugten Legierung 53G weist eine
Aluminiumkonzentration von 3200 ppm und eine Nickelkonzentration von 0,3 ppm auf.
Die Lauge enthält demnach um den Faktor 104 mehr Aluminium als Nickel. Es ist daher

davon auszugehen, daß nicht die gesamte Nickel-Aluminiumphase aufgelöst wird, sondern
nur das Aluminium.
Durch XRD-Untersuchungen konnte gezeigt werden, daß die Phasen Ni3Al oder NiAl
während des Laugens nicht auftreten. Untersuchungen am Transmissions-
elektronenmikroskop wurden an einer 45 min und einer 120 min gelaugten Probe der
Legierung 53G vorgenommen. Es wurden sowohl Abbildungs- als auch
Beugungsaufnahmen gemacht. In Abbildung 4.37 ist die Aufnahme eines typischen
Teilchens zu sehen. Die Katalysatorteilchen weisen noch die makroskopischen
Abgrenzungen der Ausgangspulver auf, die Oberfläche ist porös und wirkt schwammartig.

Neben den bekannten Phasen Nickel (fcc) und Ni2Al3 konnte im Beugungsmodus nach
Auswertung von Beugungsbildern eine Phase mit kubisch innenzentrierter (bcc) Struktur
mit einer Gitterkonstanten von 0,286 nm identifiziert werden (Abbildung 4.38). In dieser
Struktur sind die Nickel- und die Aluminiumatome auf den Gitterpositionen statistisch
verteilt. Eine EDX-Analyse ergab eine Zusammensetzung der Phase von etwa 80 Gew.%
(65 At.%) Nickel, Rest Aluminium. Im hochauflösenden Abbildungsmodus sind an dem
untersuchten Teilchen helle und dunkle Bereiche, d.h. Bereiche mit unterschiedlichem

Streuabsorptionskontrast zu sehen (Abbildung 4.39). Dieser Kontrast ist auf die durch das
Laugen verursachte Erosion des Materials und damit auf verschiedene Massendicken
zurückzuführen. In der Aufnahme lassen sich einzelne Gitterebenen erkennen. Der
Abstand dieser (110)-Gitterebenen beträgt 2,0 Å. Es zeigt sich, daß die Gitterebenen nur
über Bereiche von einigen Nanometer ideal zueinander orientiert sind. Die Orientierungen
der einzelnen Bereiche sind zueinander um kleine Winkel verkippt. Die kohärent
streuenden Bereiche haben daher eine Größenordnung von nur wenigen Nanometern. Das
hat zur Folge, daß es bei Röntgen- und Elektronenbeugung zu einer Verbreiterung der
Beugungsreflexe kommt.
In einer Beugungsaufnahme (Abbildung 4.40) sind noch Beugungsreflexe der
Ausgangsphase Ni2Al3 zu erkennen, aber auch bereits Reflexe der kubisch innenzentrierten
Struktur.
