    PRODUCT GUIDE SPECIFICATION

    Specifier Note: This product guide specification is written according to the Construction

    Specifications Institute (CSI) MasterFormat, Three-Part Section Format and PageFormat, contained

    in the CSI Manual of Practice. The section must be carefully reviewed and edited by the Architect to

    meet the requirements of the project and local building code. Coordinate with other specification

    sections and the drawings. Delete all Specifier Notes when editing this section.

    UNIT KITCHENS

    Specifier Note: This section covers Dwyer Products unit kitchens and wet bars. Custom kitchenlayouts can be designed to meet project requirements. Dwyer Products thermofoil and steel cabinets

    are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified and GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified

    for Children & Schools under certification number 90015, and can contribute positively toward

    LEED rating system points. Consult Dwyer Products for assistance in editing this section for

    specific applications.

    1.3 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    A. Kitchen unit shall be designed and shipped in separate components.

    1.4 SUBMITTALS

    A. Comply with requirements of Section 01 33 00 Submittal Procedures.

    B. Shop Drawing Submittals: Submit manufacturers shop drawings showing layout,

    profiles and product components.

    C. Quality Assurance Submittals: Submit manufacturers installation instructions.

    D. Closeout Submittals: Submit manufacturers operation and maintenance data and

    warranty. Include methods for maintaining installed products, precautions against

    cleaning materials and methods detrimental to finishes and performance.

    Specifier Note: Specify applicable requirements of regulatory agencies. Consult Dwyer Products

    with requirements to ensure kitchen design will meet specified requirements.

    1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING

    A. Comply with manufacturers ordering instructions and lead time requirements to avoid

    construction delays.

    B. Deliver, store and handle products under provisions of Section 01 60 00 and in

    accordance with manufacturers instructions.

    1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

    A. Field Measurements: Verify actual finished openings and plumbing and electricallocations by field measurements before fabrication. Coordinate field measurements andfabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid construction delays. Where field

    measurements cannot be made without delaying the work, establish dimensions and

    proceed with fabrication without field measurements. Coordinate construction to ensure

    that actual dimensions correspond to established dimensions.

    1.8 WARRANTY

    A. Manufacturers standard warranty period shall commence on Date of Delivery.

    B. Manufacturers Warranty

    1. With a complete steel or aluminum Dwyer kitchen, the refrigerator system and other

    appliances, excluding the free-standing icemakers, shall have a five (5)-year

    warranty. The owner shall be provided, at no additional charge, parts and service in

    the owners place of business (small appliances shall be taken to appliance repair

    shop or returned to factory for repair upon determination from Dwyer Products) to

    repair or replace any part of the refrigeration system (the compressor, condenser,

    evaporator, drier and all connecting tubing) or other appliance that fails because of a

    manufacturing defect while in use in the United States for the first year; parts only

    for an additional four (4)-years.

    2. With a complete melamine or wood Dwyer kitchen, the refrigerator system and

    other appliances, excluding the free-standing icemakers, shall have a two (2)-year

    PART 2 PRODUCTS

    2.1 MANUFACTURER

    Specifier Note: Edit article to include model information. Consult Dwyer Products for standard

    model numbers or assistance to ensure proper configuration of custom kitchens. The following is an

    explanation of the naming scheme for model numbers:

    The first letter describes whether the configuration is Standard or Custom. (It is always S or C,

    except w/ nourishment stations.)

    The second (and third) letter is the series designation:M = Metro (39 54 with cooking)

    C = Classic (57 on up, with cooking and undercounter refrigerator)

    S = Signature (72 on up with cooking and an upright refrigerator)

    AC = ADA Classic (Any unit built to meet ADA specs, featuring an undercounterrefrigerator)

    AS = ADA Signature (Any unit built to meet ADA specs, featuring an upright refrigerator

    AE = ADA Elevated Refrigerator (Any unit built to meet ADA specs, featuring an

    elevated refrigerator

    W = Wet Bar (39 on up with no cooking and can have any type of Refrigerator/Freezer)

    The three or four numbers are the size (060 = 60, 0765 = 76.5, 105 = 105)

    The letter immediately following the size designates what kind of cooking is in the configuration:

    N = No cooking

    B = Electric burners (could be coil or Ceran in 2 or 3 burner configurations)

    C = Freestanding range

    G = Gas 2 burner drop in

    The next letter describes the upper cabinet configuration:

    X = No upper cabinets

    N = Upper cabinets with no appliances

    H = Upper cabinets with hood onlyM = Upper cabinets with 30 microwave or 30 convection microwave

    F = Upper cabinets with 24 microwave onlyB = Upper cabinets with hood and 18 or 24 microwave

    The third letter refers to the location of the refrigerator. It is always L (Left) or R (Right).

    2.2 CABINETS

    A. Smooth Paintlok Steel Cabinet Boxes with [Paintlok Steel Doors, Thermofoil Doors,Stainless Steel Doors, Wood Doors]

    1. Smooth Paintlok Steel Cabinet Boxes

    a. Wall cabinet boxes shall be constructed with flush bottoms, except where amicrowave or range hood is to be mounted underneath.

    b. Sides of cabinet boxes shall be constructed of 20-gauge paintlok [ASTM

    A591].

    c. Base cabinets shall have a 4 high black thermofoil toe kick attached at thecabinet legs. Units over 60 shall have a black steel toe joint.

    d. Wall cabinets shall be mounted using hanging bracket system.

    e. Base cabinets shall have two front legs and shall be mounted with a hanging

    bracket system.f. Drawer guides shall be epoxy coated with nylon rollers providing a positive

    stop.

    g. Hinges shall be concealed, self-closing and adjustable.

    h. Shelves shall have rolled fronts and shall be adjustable.

    front and edge surface. The backing shall be white thermo-fused melamine.

    a. Shall be constructed of .063 [1.6 mm] aluminum.

    b. Aluminum shall be 5052 alloy offering superior corrosion resistance,

    formability, and impact resistance. Tensile strength range 31,000 to 44,000 psi.

    Conforms to Federal Specification QQ-A250/8 and ASTM B-209.

    c. Cabinet boxes shall be fabricated to a maximum tolerance of 1/16" and plug

    welded.

    d. Wall cabinets shall be constructed with flush bottoms, except where microwaveor range hood is to be mounted underneath.

    e. Base cabinets shall have a 4 high black thermofoil toe kick attached at the

    cabinet legs. Units over 60 shall have a black steel toe joint.

    f. Wall cabinets shall be mounted using hanging bracket system.g. Base cabinets shall have two front legs and shall be mounted with a hanging

    bracket system.

    h. Each hinge attachment point shall be reinforced using a threaded insert. The

    rivnut insert shall be swaged into each attachment point at time of cabinet

    fabrication and will provide full depth thread contact for each hinge fastener.i. Shelves shall be reinforced with hemmed edges, and shall be fully adjustable.

    j. Cabinet metal preparation shall consist of a cleaning operation that uses a two-

    step detergent-acid bath. After cleaning, a powder epoxy finish is applied to all

    surfaces of the cabinet by an electro-static application method. Cabinet shall beexposed to a baking process to smooth and set the finish.

    k. Drawer guides shall be epoxy coated with nylon rollers providing a positive
