In R2020x, massive point cloud files, containing millions of points, can be imported individually or in batch mode. Once imported, these large point clouds can be visualized, analyzed, refined and edited. CATIA automatically recognizes 3D primitives in the point clouds, and the parameters of these primitives can be edited and controlled. Polyhedral surfaces (meshes) created from point clouds can be used in Boolean operations with exact geometry such as NURBS surfaces, volumes of solids.
Using this approach, a large point cloud can be used to sculpt a complex terrain. This automation technology creates a parametric model enabling the quick and easy calculation of accurate volumes in many scenarios, specifically the calculation of excavations and filling for earthworks, determining excavation depth for a desired volume, or sub-diving the terrain into precise quantities for machine planning.

The layers of materials composing the road of railway are defined within each section, and thanks to this process, the subgrade and earthworks computations can be completed within a single command.

FOR PLACEMENT OF BUILDING COMPONENTS IN A BUILDING MODELEasily search, place and then multi-edit building components without depending on local AEC index files. You can select the product in which the component will be created, place the component on surface features and reference planes, or place it outside of a building product structure.
You have also the option to repeatedly place components, modify each component immediately after placing, or select component from a dropdown containing the last 12 placed components
Our 3DEXPERIENCE® platform powers our brand applications, serving 11 industries, and provides a rich portfolio of industry solution experiences.
You can optionally restrict placing the components to the specified sill height or specify a reference plane as reference for sill height. This feature is useful when adding components outside of a building structure.
