    1. Acknowledgement

Wed like to express our gratitude to the concerned academic department for introducing Basic2d Character Modelling module. This module has proven to be of great value, and has definitel

helped us to la a strong foundation for not onl our final ear pro!ect but also for our

multimedia careers. We are thankful to Mr "abinath #ulasegaram for sharing his kno$ledge and

being a guiding light throughout this assignment.

%ver lecture and lab session $as filled $ith a ne$ learning experience, and helped us feed our

curiosit from coming up $ith a character concept art, to dra$ing it on model sheets,

implementing various tpes of &' character modelling techni(ues, texturing, and rigging. Tosummari)e, this module helped us to understand the core concepts of &' design and

    development.

We are also grateful to the universit for providing us $ith a lab $hich has all the vital resources,

and librar $hich contains all the necessar books that $ere helpful for this particular

    assignment.

    4.1. Daro the Dino

The target users are kids, aged + to */ ears, $ho can be taught moral values using this character

in a game or a movie. 'aro is a bab torosaurus, and is designed to attract kids $ith its cute

features. The follo$ing attributes are added to 'aro, to make sure it connects $ell $ith its target

    usersnce it is done,

roll do$n the panel at the right side of the soft$are to the 5arameter panel and click on %dit. The

%dit EIWs $indo$ shall open up and the part that selected shall be in red, $hich is the initial

EI mapping. Then, access the Modif tab in %dit EIW; $indo$ and scroll do$n to Map

5arameter, then click on 5lanar and it $ill change the EI mapping on the %dit EIW $indo$.

Encheck the Formali)e Map option to prevent the EI Map from being scaled to fit the texture

area. 9inall, start for the texturing process.

    ur Texture

?n the design of Mateo the Ted, our group member has been used the fur texture at the entire part

    8. )ritical comment* and anal*i*

    8.1.Daro the Dino

;everal difficulties $ere faced to begin $ith, in this character. While it is made sure that $e

adhered to the rules and steps of modelling, improvements $ere made to$ards the end to make

    sure it matches the theme.

    *. 6fter finishing up $ith the character, $e reali)ed that $e $ere missing on something, and thus

added a pendant to 'aro, making it look complete. ;imilar process $as involved in development

of the pendant like the main character< modelling, and texturing.

    2. The legs $ere improved to look more realistic, after $e reali)ed that the $ere too straight and

    unnatural.

Texturing this character $as one of the toughest task to achieve, as it had to do !ustice $ith the

original characteristics of a torosaurus, as $ell as stick to the theme of making it for #ids. Thus,

an effort is made b us to balance all the perspectives of this character.

    8.2.Mateo the Ted

Mateo the Ted $as designed $ith a ver basic texture, to begin $ith. ?t $as a challenge to get its

bod proportions right, and make sure the nails $ere structured properl.

*. We made sure to add details belo$ the pa$s.

    2. Mateo $as previousl developed $ith a ver simple looking fur, $hich $as then improvised

to $hat it is, no$. ?t $as (uite difficult to make sure the fur $as !ust of apt thickness and that

it didnt change the overall look of the character.

    9. )onclu*ion

To conclude $ith, $ed like to thank Mr "abinath #ulasegaram for guiding us throughout the

course of this semester. This $as one of the most interactive modules $eve ever had so far. ?t

helped us build the base for our multimedia careers b teaching us one of the most important

segment of multimedia development, &' Modelling.

We started off this assignment $ith an enthusiasm and thinking its !ust as eas as thinking of a

character one da and making it the other da. 8o$ever, $e reali)ed the complexit of the

assignment onl $hen $e started $orking on it. With highs and lo$s, $e have managed to make

t$o characters, one medium pol and one, lo$. 'esigning a character $as definitel a daunting

task for us, as $e had to think of all the aspects of making it, and of course, the third dimension.

This assignment is a sincere effort from both of us as a team, and $e definitel look for$ard to

learn &' applications in depth and appl the kno$ledge learnt in this module to make interactive

    applications in future.
