On the year of 2002 Ardent was established as a software development

company, mainly working on the most attractive domains in the software

industry like .Net, PHP and JAVA technology. As a development company

Ardent successfully executed many software projects and achieved good

name at outsourced market as well as local market. Ardent’s development

team is still contributing excellently to the software industry.

With time the business snow-balled and the, Ardentians soon realized the

ever growing demand of the technical students of the industry and thought

of an idea to synchronize the student’s skill level with the talent required by

Sikkim Manipal University, Vidyasagar University and Bardhaman University.

  The project will be of the scale of their industrial project as per

University curriculum.

 The main objective of the project is – “to make a comparative study on

market condition of ARDENT COMPUTECH PVT. LTD. in the present scenario

in contrast with its competitors”. And along with that, to make students

aware about ARDENT Computech Pvt. Ltd.

2. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY :

Research is one of the most important parts in the survey to collect

information and knowledge. Marketing research is defined as the systematic

design, collection, analysis, and reporting of data findings relevant to a

specific marketing situation facing the company.

2.1 RESEARCH PLAN :

 The research process depends upon developing the most efficient plan for

gathering the needed information. Designing a research plan calls for

decisions on the data sources, research approaches, research instruments,

sampling plan, and contact methods.

 The objective had made our project too narrow because from now onward

our task was to find the needs and changes requirements in training/project

session and students who had already done the training was satisfied with

the training session or not, so from now onwards I started to target only to a

special segment of the students.

2.2 DATA SOURCE :

Primary Data : I had collected all the primary data directly from

the field (survey).

After collecting the entire data and deciding on the research approach and

instruments, now I had to decide on the sample design which was one of the

important task, because from the entire students I had to select only those

students, ( i.e. MCA, BCA, M.TECH., B.TECH.) whom I can target from now

onward.

2.3.A Sample Population :- Who is to be surveyed? And now my

task was to define the target population, which will be sampled from the

number of students. My target population was mainly the students of 

MCA, BCA, M.Tech., B.Tech. department of different colleges.

2.3.B Sample Size :- Large sample give more reliable result than

small sample, so for this reason I had taken around 500 students to whom

I should focus.

2.3.C Sampling Method :- I had used convenient sampling methodfor this project work.

2.4 CONTACT METHOD :

Once the students and colleges list had been decided now my task was how

to contact them and for me there only one way of contacting them –

Personal Interview :-  This method was the most appropriate wayof survey, because by personal interview I came to know their views

about “ARDENT”, their personal behavior and many more things.

2.5 RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS :

Questionnaires :- From the various ways of research instruments

of collecting data I had used only Questionnaires technique to find out

the various information about the students such as their Department,

Semester, area of interest (summer project/training), etc. And this was

the technique which I felt the best way to extract information about

the students.

3.1 SWOT Analysis of ARDENT:

4. FINDINGS :

• From the above fig. 1, it is clear that awareness among the students

about Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd. is 45% and from the company view

point it is relatively good.

• In fig. 2, the scenario is very good as 30% + 67% i.e. 97% of the

trained students has said that they are satisfied with the training

quality of Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd..

• In fig. 3, also the graph shows a very good response from the students.

Number of students preferring ARDENT for their training is highest in

position. Whereas companies like CMC & IBM are not much below from

ARDENT. Student’s preference for CMC & IBM are also in the high

altitude.

• Although we have found that in fig. 1, number of students know aboutARDENT is 225, but in fig. 3, number of students preferring ARDENT for

training is just 122.

• By the χ2 test, it has been found that there is significant difference in

the preference of different companies.

 

5. LIMITATIONS :

• Due to lack of time, we could not get more number of students.

• Some students were unaware of their summer training and thus failed

to give their preference.

• While filling up the questionnaire some students took suggestions from

their classmates and friends.

• Few students handed us the half-filled questionnaire.

• Few students had preferred two companies at the same time. For e.g.-

ARDENT, CMC or ARDENT, IBM or CMC, IBM.

• Since college location was not known to us, so we were unable to

reach at time.

• Girls students were not willing to share their views and preferences.

6. RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS:

Lack of information about the training courses/modules provided by the Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd.. Most of the students whom I meet

during my survey told me that that they are unaware of the training

modules and courses. This is mainly because of the lack of marketing

the products/ services by the company.

So, I would suggest that the company should promote its brand in

more aggressive manner.

• Wrong perception regarding the training quality of Ardent Computech

Pvt. Ltd. should be improved. Most of the students do not want to do

their summer project/training from Ardent as mainly because of their

wrong perception regarding the teaching/training quality.So, I would suggest that some highly qualified trainer should be made

to look after them for giving a free demo class, so that the wrong

perception could be minimize from the minds of the students.

 

• Image of the Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd. should be improved in the

colleges. Most of the students that we had interviewed said that their

college has a tie-up with some other training company.

So, I would like to suggest that the company should make more efforts

in tie-up with the colleges so that they can get more number of 

students.

• Branch at Durgapur is neither spacious nor air-conditioned. Most of the

students who were the trainee at Ardent said that the branch is not

spacious and not a single air-conditioner is available.

So, on view point of the previous trained students I would recommend

that the company should at first extend its area and should provide air-

condition for the students.

Maintaining the market condition becomes an immense important section in

any organization for the smooth and profitable function. For the bright future

of organization dispatch performance is needed.

It is the first target of any organization to fulfill the customers demand and

this can be done only by doing their work in right direction.

On the basis of the field of every sort of data collected after inspecting andcollecting information from various students of various institutes it has been

found that ARDENT COMPUTECH PVT. LTD. is now in average position in the

market field and by giving special attention in some fields it can become

better one among the leading companies in the market sector. Some

necessary suggestions is being mentioned which might help Ardent to make

their process.

After long analyses it can be said that, although ARDENT COMPUTECH PVT.

LTD. is an ISO 9001-2008 certified company still students expect a lot from

the company. Student’s preference gets change from time to time due tosome significant reasons but to retain those willing students, the company

have to increase its promotional activities. Also the company have to look

towards its competitor’s market strategy.

We had used χ2 test, and the result was, there is significant difference in the

preference of different companies. Regarding awareness number of students

knows about ARDENT was just 225 and among them only 122 students has

preferred ARDENT for their training. So, the company have to make new

innovative approaches and strategy to minimize the gap.
