This Terms Project in Australia Class! Rio De Vida! This half term, we’ll dress up in bright clothes, hang out the bunting and enjoy a carnival party! Afterwards, we’ll write about our carnival experiences, compose carnival poetry, create vibrant dances and play carnival rhythms. We’ll learn to speak some Portuguese, study maps and globes to locate Brazil and decide what it would be like to live there. We’ll also create colourful collages, cards and carnival bunting. We want the children to research what carnivals are and why we have them, how carnivals effect cities and decide whether carnivals are a benefit or damaging to local culture and businesses. We will also be getting very creative with colour, dances and expressing ourselves in different ways. Throughout the topic Learning Launch! Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to party in Rio! On the the children in Australia class are going to have an all-day dancing workshop, using their wild imaginations to create carnival dances and party at their very own carnival. Please make sure you wear your carnival clothes and are ready to party in Rio! How can you help? This term, your child will be doing PE on a Monday and swimming on a Friday afternoon. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school every week and swimming kits on a Friday.
