ART BASEL MIAMIArt Basel Miami is an annual contemporary art exhibition held in Miami each December, which is a sister event to Art Basel in Switzerland. The Miami exhibition has been held since 2002 and boasts more than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa take part, showcasing works by more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

While the main show takes place on South Beach, Miami’s art districts including Wynwood, the Design District, and Midtown all house independent exhibitions, which attract thousands of visitors that are lured by the unique nature of the these exhibits.

With more than 50,000 attendees in 2011—a third of which were Miami visitors— Art Basel has become one of the most popular events in Miami and the favorite winter meeting place for the international art world.

SECOND SATURDAY ART + DESIGN NIGHT On the 2nd Saturday of every month, the Design District and Wynwood are a buzz with people scoping out the gallery scene. A veritable cross section of art, design, and nightlife, the event draws an eclectic crowd of some 30,000 people.

Galleries open their doors to the public for exhibitions and parties featuring local rising stars, as well as artists of national and international acclaim. Live bands, DJs, and complimentary drinks are part of the
