Even those locals that have not traditionally had dues deducted through the Premera APA system must report their dues amounts to WEA and to employers. All local dues should be collected through the APA system unless your local has made special written arrangement with both WEA and your employer to remit them separately. If you do not inform all relevant parties of your 2016-17 dues rates in a timely manner, local dues will be deducted/invoiced at the 2015-16 rates. Association obligations regarding agency fee make mid-year local dues rate changes impossible in any bargaining unit enforcing such a provision.

It is absolutely essential that local associations join with employers, WEA and UniServ staff in ensuringthat all employees are paying appropriate monthly amounts based on their membership, FTE andearnings status, and that new employees are enrolled in the association rapidly.
Timely recruitment of members and forwarding of relevant paperwork to employers and WEA staff is thesingle most important thing local associations can do to ensure the financial stability of the Associationand help mitigate problems related to agency fee.
I am grateful for your ongoing assistance. Please contact me via email at [email protected] ifyou have any questions.

Topic: Retirements
It is sometimes difficult for WEA staff to accurately ascertain why individuals stoppaying dues from one year to the next. Being able to appropriately code thoseemployees who are retiring helps reduce the number of corrections onmembership and billing rosters.
Please take a few moments to report the names of WEA members – eithercertificated or classified – who are retiring this school year. Please returnthis list to the address above or, if it is more convenient, please feel free to senda printout, separate form or e-mail to [email protected].
We encourage us of the electronic version available athttp://pforms.washingtonea.org/Forms/retiring_educators
Thank you very much for your assistance in helping us record this careermilestone, and for providing us with the opportunity to better respond to thechanging needs of educational employees.
