Get Started
Welcome to Anthology Occupation Insight HelpOccupation Insight is a cloud-based analytics solution that captures national and regional workforce data and seam-lessly integrates the real-time data with an institution’s programs, courses, and student services. The workforce data made available through the Occupation Insight Graph API is provisioned to each institution through an embedded Power BI report. The Occupation Insight application enables institutions a view into the Power BI workspace and enables users to view and edit Power BI reports.
This help system provides step-by-step instructions for working with the Power BI Reports embedded in the Occupation Insight application.
Anthology Occupation Insight 3.2.0 6 Help Guide
What's New in 3.2.0
Labor Market Data UpdateOccupation Insight has been updated with the latest quarterly aggregated labor market data from Burning Glass. This is a minor update that represents the latest employer posting and skills data.
With this update, 280 new skills have been added (see List of New Skills). These skills were requested in, at least 3% of employer postings for an occupation.
As part of this update, we have worked with Burning Glass to fill gaps in the skill rank and demand, so that each occu-pation has all ranked skills represented. This led to the update of 314 skills from inactive to active (see List of Skills Changed from Inactive to Active).
For example, in Skill Demand Dashboard, skills ranked 2-4 for an Account Executive occupation are now reflected.
Anthology Occupation Insight Branding Anthology has renamed its solutions into a suite of products and services that align with its mission (for more inform-ation, see Press Release). As part of this effort, CampusNexus Occupation Insight is now Anthology Occupation Insight.
Below are the updated areas of the Occupation Insight web application with the latest name and theme:
You can expect more updates in subsequent releases as we continue to make design updates across Anthology products.
Occupation Insight Web Application Based on your feedback and recommendations, we have made two impactful changes to improve the day-to-day user experience within the Occupation Insight web application. The changes are:
l Increased the default number of entries displayed in the report grid from 10 to 25. Since the number of out-of-the-box visualizations has increased to more than 10, this change helps you to scroll through all out-of-the-box and some custom reports up to 25 without manually increasing the default. The increments for show entries are now 25, 50, and 100.
l Turned off the Bookmarks pane in View mode so that it no longer occupies valuable space on the Occupation Insight report canvas and does not detract users from using the navigation buttons built into the reports. The Bookmarks pane will be available by default in Edit mode.
Incremental Performance Improvement of the Semantic Model Reduction of the usage of calculated tables and columns, updates to count functions and removal of unused measures improved the performance of the semantic model.
These updates improved the responsiveness of Occupation Insight reports in the following ways:
l Reduction in time taken to load and display visuals
l Increase in concurrent usage
For example, earlier when you viewed the Active Job Postings Dashboard, the Skill Postings bar chart visual would take much longer to load than other visualizations. The load time of this visual has now been significantly reduced.

Access and AuthenticationThe URL to access the Occupation Insight application online is https://oc-cupationinsight.campusnexus.cloud. Additionally, administrators can choose to make the application avail-able to users in their organization at https://myapps.microsoft.com.
The administrator at an institution will register the Occupation Insight application and provision user access within their institution's Azure Active Directory (AAD). When users navigate to the application, it will direct them to the AAD sign on page for their institution. Institutional users will sign in using the credentials assigned by their administrator. If you are not authenticated, standard AAD messages will be displayed.
The permissions associated with user profiles are configured for two roles:
l Contributor - Report Owners (read and write permissions)
l Reader - Report Users (read-only permission).

Work with ReportsOccupation Insight Explorer reports are the visual representation of meaningful labor market statistics and job posting data that can be tied back to your institutions academic data for programs, courses, and skills to help students in pre-paring for their future career. Additional reports leveraging only the labor market data are also available out of the box.
This section provides users with basic instructions on how to view and manage reports within the Occupation Insight application. For more advanced Power BI information, refer to the Microsoft information provided in the Resources sec-tion.
Reading Mode and Editing ModeThere are two modes for viewing and interacting with reports.
l Reading mode
l Editing mode
The reading mode is associated with the Reader role, while the editing mode is available to users with the Contributor permissions. See Access and Authentication.
Reading mode is available to all users and is especially designed for data consumers, while editing mode is only avail-able to report creators and owners.
Report users can view:
l The list of your Occupation Insight reports
l A report embedded on the Occupation Insight report page
Reading mode ensures that every consumer is seeing the same report, the same visualizations, and optionally with the same filters applied. Consumers can interact with the reports, can change the existing filters, but cannot add new filters.
Report owners can view, create, edit, save, delete, and publish reports. For example, they can:
l Add and remove data fields and filters
l Change visualization types
l Create new visualizations
l Add and delete pages from the report
They can then share the reports they create with colleagues via the Occupation Insight application, or with students and faculty via embed on the portal.
For detailed instructions, see the Occupation Insight Administration and Configuration Guide at https://help.cam-pusmanagement.com/Content/DocSets/OIDocSet.htm.
Desktop View and Mobile View Occupation Insight leverages the capability of Power BI embed to view Power BI reports in a mobile layout. On the Home Page you can toggle back and forth between viewing Occupation Insight reports in Mobile or Desktop layouts.
When logging into Occupation Insight, the app will detect the user's device type and default the view selection to either Desktop or Mobile accordingly.
Please note the following related to Mobile and Desktop report view selections and viewing reports in the Occupation Insight web application:
l Accessing a report with Mobile view selected
o If a mobile layout exists for the report, the report will be rendered in mobile layout.
o If a mobile layout does not exist, the report will be rendered in desktop layout.
l Accessing a report with Desktop view selected
o Irrespective of whether a mobile layout exists for the report, the report will be rendered in desktop layout.
Power BI embed currently only supports the viewing of reports in a mobile layout. Until such time that Microsoft makes this functionality available, Edit and New report options are disabled when Mobile view is selected. In order to Edit or create a New report, Desktop view must be selected.

Types of Predefined Reports
Type of Data Source and Description
Labor market
The labor market data from Burning Glass Technologies is derived from hundreds of millions of job postings collected by Burning Glass. This data is then supplemented with government labor market data to provide a comprehensive picture of the current and emerging job market.
The Burning Glass labor market taxonomy defines 681 occupations, which are organized into 159 occupation groups (a common set of occupations). Occupation groups are, in turn, organ-ized into 26 broad career areas.
Anthology Occupation Insight 3.2.0 22 Help Guide
Type of Data Source and Description
Job post-ing
Occupation Insight is integrated with the Burning Glass daily job posting feed to provide more timely and regionally granular assessment of the labor market. This feature was prioritized in response to the rapid fluctuations occurring in the labor market today.
Active job posting details, and 12-months trend data for those job postings related to your insti-tution’s programs can now be visualized. Two canned reports focused on active job postings and 12-months trends are now available in your report listing. Job postings are active for 60 days. After 60 days, they expire.

Filters in Reading Mode and Editing ModeThe filtering capabilities available to you depend on whether you are in reading mode or editing mode.
In editing mode:
l You can add visual, page and report filters. When you save the report, the filters are saved with the report. People looking at the report in reading mode can interact with the filters you added but cannot add new filters.
l The Filters pane is displayed in the bottom half of the Visualizations pane when a visual is selected on the can-vas.
In reading mode:
l You can interact with any filters that already exist in the report. You can explore the data in the report using fil-ters, but you cannot add new filters.
l The Filters pane is displayed along the right side of the canvas. If you don't see the pane, click to expand it.
The following is an overview of the steps to take when using filters. For more details, see https://www.y-outube.com/embed/SYk_gWrtKvM?list=PL1N57mwBHtN0JFoKSR0n-tBkUJHeMP2cP
Filter Data in Visuals 1. Select a visual on the canvas to make it active and expand the Visualization pane. In the Visualization pane,
scroll down to the Filters section.
All the fields that are used to create a visual are also available as filters. The fields used in the visual are listed in the Visualizations pane and in the Filters pane under Visual level filters.
Refer to Occupation Insight Data for some of the field definitions.
2. Under Visual level filters, expand the field name, and expand the Filter Type option. The filter types include:
l Basic filtering (list mode)
The check boxes represent the available values for that field. Use the All check box to toggle the state of all check boxes on or off. As you adjust the filter, the visual updates to reflect your choices.
l Advanced mode
Use the drop-down controls and text boxes to identify which values to include. By choosing between And and Or, you can build complex filter expressions. Select the Apply Filter button when you've set the val-ues you want.
3. In our example we chose Basic filtering and selected 3 MsaPosting values that we want show on the map visual.
4. You can also add fields to the Filters section and set filters for the additional fields. Dragging a new field into the Visual level filter area does not add that field to the visual, but it does allow you to filter the visual with this new field.
In our example we added the SalaryByMsaId field to the filter.
5. In Advanced filtering mode you can select operators such as 'is greater than', 'contains', etc.
Anthology Occupation Insight 3.2.0 43 Help Guide
In our example we selected 'is greater than or equal to', specified a value of 50000 for the SalaryByMsaId field.

When you select Format, you have the choose single-select, multi-select, or all values.
In our example, we placed the slicer next to the map of MsaPostings and selected the Dropdown option for Salary50Percentile data.
3. The resulting map with slicer filter is shown below. The data on the map will change with different selections in the slicer dropdown.
If you want to use a hierarchy slicer visual for substitute pools and you select a substitute, you must select the default courses for each of the other substitute pools to ensure the measures and counts for course and skills are accurate. The illustration provides an example.

Predefined Slicer FiltersOccupation Insight provides predefined slicer filters. It is necessary to use these slicer filters to ensure data is filtered in visuals as expected. For example, in order to filter a list occupations by a selected area of study you must apply the Fil-ter Occupations by Areas of Study slicer filter as a visual level filter on the visual containing occupations.
The following illustration shows some of the predefined slicer filters available for you to use.

Page and Report Level FiltersReport and Page Level filters are set-up in a similar way. The difference between the two is that a page level filters only applies to the page it is on while a report level filter applies across all pages of a report. Report and Page Level filters are more flexible than data slicers.
To add one of these filters, drag a field to the Report or Page Level filters section under the Visualizations options.
If you add a field to a filter, you will have the option to do basic filtering (which shows all values which can be selected) or advanced filtering.
Once saved, the Report and Page Level filters will appear on the right side of your report.

Occupation Insight DataOccupation Insight reports are built using the data from:
l CampusNexus Student or external SIS (Student Information System)
l Burning Glass Technologies (BGT)
The table provides an overview and indicates when the data is synched or refreshed.
Type of Data Source and Description
When Synched or Refreshed
Academic data for your institution from Cam-pusNexus Student or external SIS
So that it can be visually represented in Occupation Insight reports, the data is
l Synced to the Occupation Insight database for CampusNexus Student
l Refreshed using a file share process for external SISs
For example, the programs, program versions, areas of study, courses, and skills data at your institution.
Daily
Job posting data from BGT
Occupation Insight is integrated with the Burning Glass daily job posting feed to provide more timely and regionally granular assessment of the labor mar-ket. This feature was prioritized in response to the rapid fluctuations occurring in the labor market today.
Active job posting details, and 12-months trend data for those job postings related to your institution’s programs can now be visualized. Two canned reports focused on active job postings and 12-months trends are now avail-able in your report listing. Job postings are active for 60 days. After 60 days, they expire.
Daily
Labor market data from BGT
The labor market data from Burning Glass Technologies is derived from hun-dreds of millions of job postings collected by Burning Glass. This data is then supplemented with government labor market data to provide a com-prehensive picture of the current and emerging job market.
The Burning Glass labor market taxonomy defines 681 occupations, which are organized into 159 occupation groups (a common set of occupations). Occupation groups are, in turn, organized into 26 broad career areas.
