PA R T O NE : T H E E S S E N C E Our Winter Collection brings a certain essence reflecting the joy present in our women in Uganda. Their ability to find joy in the midst of hardship is trul y inspiring. Helen, one of our newest designers, was a true example of joy as soon as she stepped into our headquarters. With every interaction, we had another glimpse of her cheerful spirit and warm personality. Her joy is simpl y contagious. You would never guess hidden behind her smile are stories of hardship and challenges. Her husband passed away and Helen is the sole provider for her four children. She loves to sing and dance, and her joy is found in her work and the ability to provide education for her children. Our yellow Meadowsweet necklace was created by Helen, and perfectl y captures her warm smile and compelling joy.

In The Gallery, we are displaying some of our most intricate designs yet. We are in constant awe of the creativity found in each of our designers. Women like Charity have put their creativity on display since day one. When she entered our program, she had never rolled beads before, however, her attention to details and will ingness to learn allowed her to pick up the craft quickl y. Because of her creative personality and eye for design, we have given her the responsibility of making some of the more difficult designs, such as our layered Truffle necklace. She is fearless in using new colors and learning new styles. Charity’s dream is to own a clothing shop where she can sell second-hand clothing as well as her own designs. Her creativity and ambition are admirable and we have no doubt she will be successful.

In every line, we love to continue some of our “go with everything” designs as well as put a spin on past favorites. The Classics section emphasizes the consistency of hard work and great design. We are constantl y motivated and encouraged by our Ugandan designers’ capacity to work hard. Eveline, who made this season’s yellow Timber necklace, shows consistency and determination in everything she does. Her goal is to save enough money to attend a University, earn a degree in education, and become a teacher. We are inspired by her work-ethic and excited to stand alongside her as she pursues her dreams.
