Dedicated line concepts are therefore essential to the fulfilment of specific customer requirements with regard to both products and output. SML designs reach from simple extrusion coating lines to sophisticated tandem coextrusion lamination lines. SML coating lines are fitted with high-output extruders for materials as diverse as polyolefins, EAA, EVA, EVOH and ionomers. Coextrusion involving up to 9 layers and production speeds of up to 600 m/min are both possible, while unwinds can be of shafted or shaft-less design and are able to handle a variety of substrates that includes paper, BOPP, PET and BOPET films, PA, aluminium foil and metallised films. In this context we would like to mention SML’s turret unwinds EcoFlex and PowerFlex. Feed block technology and automatic dies with an adjustable, internal deckling system and edge bead reduction in combination with single or differential thickness measurement assure an optimum cross profile distribution. The coating unit is equipped with a large-diameter cooling roller and a non-sticky rubber pressing roller with steel support roller. Contact pressure and gap of both sides is individually adjustable. For over-coating a teflon tape attachment is provided. Furthermore, in order to achieve perfect adhesion between the different substrates, the lines can be equipped with treatment systems such as for example corona treatment or liquid primer stations. Web handling includes sensitive web tension control and edge trimming by shear cut, crush cut or razor blade slitting devices. SML has a complete portfolio of winders for coating applications. Its surface contact winders series W100 are basic models suitable for paper and fabric applications. Turret winders series W1100 are designed for medium speed while the horizontal sliding winder W2000 is the high end model for high speed. All these winders are able to slit rolls inline. Thus the SML winder programme is both comprehensive and attractive, which enables SML to deliver customised turnkey plants with an excellent price/performance ratio. HIGH-SPEED EXTRUSION COATING LINES
