• Keeps all of the elements of an application Including the interface ,middleware and back end data, in one place

1 tier architecture

Advantages Simplest, easiest Most direct equivalent of running an application on a

personal computerDisadvantages Least scalable

2 tier architecture

• supply a basic network between a client and a server.

2 tier architecture

Advantages Basic web model Improved scalabilityDisadvantages it does not divide application layers

3 tier architecture

• Client –server architecture in which the user interface (presentation), functional process logic (business rules), computer data storage and data access are developed and maintained as independent modules

3 tier architecture

Advantages the three tiers to be upgraded or replaced independently Since the client doesn’t have direct access to the database

business logic is more secure Disadvantages It is more complex structure More difficult to set up and maintain it as well The physical separation of the tiers may affect the

performance between the three It is more difficult to built a 3-tier application
