Combat Zone Tax Exclusion (CZTE)

• Exemption from federal income taxes continues through the last day of the month of departure from the designated area. Withhold of taxes will resume on the 1st day of the following month. IF TAX WITHHOLDING DOES NOT START IN MONTH FOLLOWING RETURN CONTACT SERVICING FINANCE IMMEDIATELY!

• Soldiers have 180 days after redeployment to file federal income taxes. Write “OEF/OIF from (start date) to (end date)” at the top of your return to avoid a late fee or penalty.

Hostile Fire Pay (HFP)

• Entitlement to HFP $225.00stops the day you depart the designated area. CONTACT SERVICING FINANCE IMMEDIATELY!IF HFP DOSENT’S STOP UPON RETURN.

Hardship Duty Pay-Location (HDP-L)

• All soldiers assigned to OEF/OIF AORs may receive $50, $100 or $150 per month depending on the deployed location.. Entitlement shows as “SAVE PAY” on LES.

Family Separation Allowance (FSA-II)

• Current rate is $250 per month ($8.33 per day). Allowance shows as FSH on LES.

•Entitlement to FSA stops the day prior to arrival at home station or if a soldier and all dependents are together 30 days or longer during deployment. IF FSH DOES NOT STOP IN MONTH FOLLOWING RETURN CONTACT SERVICING

FINANCE IMMEDIATELY!

Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS)

• If you received Standard BAS, your BAS should not have changed for the period of deployment.

•If you are designated as Essential Station Messing (Meal Card Holder), your meal deductions should have stopped for the period of deployment. When you return to home station meal deductions will resume effective the date of return.

CASUALTY NOTIFICATION Lightly injured – Your Soldier will call you

Very Seriously Injured – I will call you immediately. Your Soldier

will call you when your Soldier is able to. You may be able to visit

them in the hospital at Government expense.

Fatality

Unit will shut down communications Stateside until you are

notified.

SFC or above and a Chaplain will notify you personally.

A casualty assistance officer will call you, and then visit you,

to help you sort out the funeral arrangements, legal documents

and financial situations associated with this. This person is for

you until you tell them to stop.

If you desire, a unit „care team‟ will come to your home right

away to assist with children, visitors, errands during the first few

days.

In all cases, the Rear Detachment and FRG must know how to

reach you – even if you just take a weekend trip.
