• I am from Atlanta, GA.
• Graduated from Georgia State University with a Masters in Teaching.
• This is my second year at CAG.
• My 4th year teaching.
• I love reading, traveling, and baseball!
What’s new in 3rd grade?• Your student’s transition to 3rd grade marks an important
step in their academic career.
• Our goal for this year is to increase student independence and responsibility.
• Our new math program uses more hands-on activities and focuses on student-centered learning.

• Some of the increased responsibility includes:• Double the weekly time in the Science Lab.
• Increasing use of textbooks.
• More folders and notebooks.

• Behavior colors: Green- great day, Yellow- warning, Red- students write a note home and separate from group, Blue- office
• Positive Reinforcement! Throughout the week, students may earn stars. These stars may be traded in for various rewards like having Friday lunch with a friend at the Montanita.
Homework – a.k.a. Night Time Practice
• Thank you! Continue signing agendas.
• New homework policy: focus on reading and math practice. 30 minutes of reading in English due every Friday on reading logs. 15 minutes of online math practice (IXL) also due by Friday morning.
• Let them make mistakes
• Hire a tutor only to review and re-teach concepts taught in class and not to help them complete their homework.
• Homework is responsibility development.
