2 nd Imphal National Muaythai Challenger 2013 grand success It is a great news that there is a marked improvement in the 2 nd Imphal National Muaythai Challenger Cup 2013 which was held at the great city of Imphal, Manipur. The event was held from February 1 to 3, 2013 at the SAI Indoor Boxing Stadium, Khuman Lampak, Imphal. The Opening Ceremony was marked with the thrilling presentation of Manipur traditional Martial Arts (Thang- Ta) by Manipur Thang-Ta artistes while the Closing Program became the most memorable one as a well-known local singer Bobin presented a “Muaythai Song” written by MFI Secretary General O Manglemjao. Muaythai fighters from Tamil Nadu performed well this time while Manipur retained their highest medal tally status. Fighters from West Bengal and Assam also had shown their immense rise this time in 2 nd Imphal National Muaythai Challenger Cup 2013 at Imphal. The fight between L Suraj Singh of Manipur and Samar Sarkar of Assam in 75 kilo category became one of the most exciting matches. In the 2 nd Round, Samar fell down and then his opponent Suraj further fell over his fallen body resulting to fracturing his left hand. And the Doctor had to declare that he would not fight further and this led to the declaration of Suraj a winner. MFI President Oken Jeet Sandham had lauded the Organizers of the 2 nd Imphal National Muaythai Challenger Cup 2013 for successfully staging the event in a very remarkable manner. He also thanked the Organizers and people for their excellent hospitality to the teams coming from various parts of the country. Oken Jeet Sandham also called upon the leaders and members of the MFI to be sincere in their working and approach while trying to organize and promote Muaythai in anywhere in the country. He told the gathering that they should always work to strengthen the International Federation- IFMA. “Because of IFMA, we are here today,” he said. “As such, it is our bounden duty to strengthen IFMA.” Many MFI leaders and special Invitees from across the country attended the event. Ex- Minister Brajagopal Sharma graced the Closing Function as Chief Guest.
