Dear colleagues,
the management of oral and maxillofacial tumors is one of the most challenging fi elds in our discipline. The surgi-cal part includes tumor ablation, lymph node dissection and reconstructive techniques. The lymph node dissec-tion or neck dissection is on the one hand important to remove potential lymph node metastases and on the other hand crucial for the determination of necessity for adjuvant radio- and/or chemotherapy. Therefore it is very important to perform this procedure in a structured way. The neck is a rather hazardous area due to important anatomical structures like the carotid artery, the jugular internal vein and nerves like the accessory, vagal and facial nerve. A structured neck dissection procedure is essential to set comparable standard for adjuvant the-rapy and statistical analysis about cancer therapy.
During the current course we would like to share our experiences in this fi eld with you. We invite you to a hands-on surgical workshop on Thiel-embalmed cada-vers. Special focus of the course is paid on practical exercise. After detailed case presentations we will give you an anatomical introduction followed by the teaching of access surgery in a step-by-step manner. The second part of this course will bring you to the operation room. There we will demonstrate the procedures during a live surgery.Enjoy your time with us in Pre-Christmas Munich!
With kind regards,
