The Chamber hosted another successful “No Experience Necessary” Bowling Tournament at AMF Lanes in Webster. Go check out some great pics of the event at The Chamber’s Facebook page or simply use the link (https://tinyurl.com/yavsg5qv). While the Chamber doesn’t have a major event for the month of July, the Chamber Executive Board and Staff are planning for the next year. We’ve totaled up the ballots for our new Board Members and are also in the final planning phase for the new Executive Board Members. Those new names will be released shortly! We are also excited to welcome George P. Bush, Texas Land Commissioner, to speak at our next General Membership luncheon on July 25th at Lakewood Yacht Club. Two major events in August that are coming up. First, the 52nd Annual New Teacher’s Luncheon is August 8th at SSHR. Sponsorships, door prizes (which the teachers love!), and goodie bag donors are available for the event which set the record last year for the largest luncheon in the Clear Lake Area. So get out there and help us welcome over 350 new teachers to CCISD! Next is the “Boots on the Ground” Membership Campaign to drive and increase membership in your Chamber. For the Membership Campaign, I would like to I encourage everyone to get involved as much as you can and push to get new members to be a part of this great organization! And save the date, October 5th, for the Annual Chairman’s Ball at the Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington Field! This wonderful new addition to the Clear Lake Area will serve as a very unique venue for our annual formal event, or as I like to say, “Chamber Prom”. As we’ll be surrounded by some historical military aircraft that have helped preserved the freedoms we enjoy, if you or someone attending, is a veteran or is actively serving, feel free to wear your awards and decorations on your evening attire or wear a formal military uniform. This is totally appropriate as I’m deeming it a “formal occasion of ceremony and social functions of a military nature” [Army Regulation 670-1]. Hope to see you there! And I would be remiss if I didn’t remind everyone to spend your business, entertainment, or leisure dollars in the local area to help grow our local economy (#buyintobayarea). Also, if you have a success story of a #buyintobayarea connection, let Stephanie (stephanie@ clearlakearea.com) at the Chamber know so we can spread the word and get the testimonial on social media and in our newsletter. Have a great and safe Independence Day and we’ll see you next month!
