28 th August 2019 From the Principal… Finally, the fencing around the new equipment in the junior playground was taken away and all the waiting and anticipation to explore the space is over. Mr Flint and Mr Watson were the first to try it out! This week is SAS Recognition Week. We take the time to remind our Support staff- Louise, Michelle, Brenda, Nat, Cathy, Dallas, Jo A and Bruce how much we appreciate their support in the school. At Terrey Hills we are very blessed with amazing ancillary staff. Professional Learning is an important part of keeping up to date and continuing to inspire our staff. Over the week teachers have attended courses at the Art Gallery of NSW, Mitchell Library and Museum of Sydney. Some teachers are attending a two day Managing Challenging Behaviour conference and others are focusing on Maths. This is a very busy time for everyone. Our Fathers and Carers’ Active Morning is planned for tomorrow 29 th August- weather permitting. We have our fingers crossed! Don’t forget the Fathers’ Gift Stall on Thursday- send in $7 if you wish your child to choose a gift. Next Wednesday 4 th September is Coffee and Play Morning. Pre-schoolers starting school next year and their parents are invited for a play in the hall, a performance by 1 Bees and an Italian lesson and visit to a Kindergarten room. From the Principal…

Finally, the fencing around the new equipment in the junior playground was taken away and all the waiting and anticipation to explore the space is over.

Our Fathers and Carers’ Active Morning is planned for tomorrow 29th August- weather permitting. We have our fingers crossed! Don’t forget the Fathers’ Gift Stall on Thursday- send in $7 if you wish your child to choose a gift.

Next Wednesday 4th September is Coffee and Play Morning. Pre-schoolers starting school next year and their parents are invited for a play in the hall, a performance by 1 Bees and an Italian lesson and visit to a Kindergarten room.

Bell Shakespeare Company is visiting the school today. The Year 4 classes are using some of the stories as a basis for their English unit this term, so they will be attending a workshop during the day.

All notes are available via the school app under

P&C Fundraising – Online Auction Terrey Hills Public School P & C Events Committee is holding an online auction with some fabulous prizes up for grabs. This online auction is part of the Major Fundraiser Event, giving an opportunity for those parents who could not attend on the night to still be involved in bidding on some of the prizes. Of course we encourage and welcome bids from everyone! Each Auction ends September 6th.

Money raised from the Event and this online auction will go towards valuable resources for our school. We thank all the local business and families who have donated so generously. We appreciate your support of our school.

Follow the link and start bidding! https://www.myminiauction.com/thps From the Events Team

Class Basket Donations The teachers were thrilled this week to take delivery of the new items for their classrooms generously donated by the school community.

Terrey Hills School has for some time supported the work of Bushlink at our school. Bushlink provides employment to young people with intellectual disability to conduct bush regeneration work on council sites in the Northern Beaches and Willoughby Council areas. They also have a school program going into schools and doing gardening often alongside the students showing the students the importance of our natural environment and also demonstrating to students the place that people with intellectual disability have in our society. Bushlink are currently fundraising to purchase another ute so that they can offer more employment to young people with intellectual disability. They will be participating in the Manly Fun Run on September 1st. If you would like to make a small contribution to this great cause click on the link to make a donation: https://manlyfunrun.grassrootz.com/bushlink/team-adrian-we-need-a-ute

Also worth a watch is the promotional video in this link. It will bring a smile to your face! https://manlyfunrun.grassrootz.com/bushlink For any further information on the work of Bushlink see their website or ask Michelle in the school office.

Today 2 Butterflies enjoyed planting some bulbs donated by Bunnings to brighten up our garden
