This morning workshop is an introduction to Lean techniques and how they can be applied to the construction industry

The facilitators Stephen Greenhalgh has 30 yearsrsquo experience in civil and highways engineering he has been a highways project manager with Highways England for over 10 years and has delivered several major road infrastructure improvement projects including major bypasses bridge replacement projects and more recently the smart motorways around Leeds and Manchester Prior to joining Highways England Stephen worked in both the private and public sectors as designer and project manager on a variety civil engineering schemes

After several years using Lean techniques within his own projects Stephen joined Highways Englandrsquos Lean Division earlier this year He is now responsible for supporting the implementation of Lean within Highways Englandrsquos supply chain developing the use of collaborative planning and visual management to improve Customer Value drive Continuous Improvement encourage Collaboration and eliminate waste

Craig Wilkinson is a highly experienced Lean Practitioner who has worked across several government departments

Craig joined the Highways England Lean team as a senior practitioner in February 2015 and led the deployment of Lean across the Northern regions implementing Visual Management Structured Problem Solving and process mapping techniques

He is currently leading on a number of high profile Lean improvement projects within Highways England and using his expertise and knowledge to build the Lean capability of Highways England staff and its supply chain colleagues

Since his appointment in 2004 with the Highways Agency as Divisional Director Major Projects (North) he led the Major Projects review Change Programme before being appointed Divisional Director Lean Improvement (2009) with the objective of improving value for money across the Supply Chain of the Highways Agency Having left Highways England in 2015 Derek is now a visiting Professor at Salford University School of the Built Environment and has a Consultancy specializing in Lean Construction he lectures widely in Lean Construction both in the UK and abroad

The facilitators Stephen Greenhalgh has 30 yearsrsquo experience in civil and highways engineering he has been a highways project manager with Highways England for over 10 years and has delivered several major road infrastructure improvement projects including major bypasses bridge replacement projects and more recently the smart motorways around Leeds and Manchester Prior to joining Highways England Stephen worked in both the private and public sectors as designer and project manager on a variety civil engineering schemes

After several years using Lean techniques within his own projects Stephen joined Highways Englandrsquos Lean Division earlier this year He is now responsible for supporting the implementation of Lean within Highways Englandrsquos supply chain developing the use of collaborative planning and visual management to improve Customer Value drive Continuous Improvement encourage Collaboration and eliminate waste

Craig Wilkinson is a highly experienced Lean Practitioner who has worked across several government departments

Craig joined the Highways England Lean team as a senior practitioner in February 2015 and led the deployment of Lean across the Northern regions implementing Visual Management Structured Problem Solving and process mapping techniques

He is currently leading on a number of high profile Lean improvement projects within Highways England and using his expertise and knowledge to build the Lean capability of Highways England staff and its supply chain colleagues

The facilitators Stephen Greenhalgh has 30 yearsrsquo experience in civil and highways engineering he has been a highways project manager with Highways England for over 10 years and has delivered several major road infrastructure improvement projects including major bypasses bridge replacement projects and more recently the smart motorways around Leeds and Manchester Prior to joining Highways England Stephen worked in both the private and public sectors as designer and project manager on a variety civil engineering schemes

After several years using Lean techniques within his own projects Stephen joined Highways Englandrsquos Lean Division earlier this year He is now responsible for supporting the implementation of Lean within Highways Englandrsquos supply chain developing the use of collaborative planning and visual management to improve Customer Value drive Continuous Improvement encourage Collaboration and eliminate waste

Craig Wilkinson is a highly experienced Lean Practitioner who has worked across several government departments

Craig joined the Highways England Lean team as a senior practitioner in February 2015 and led the deployment of Lean across the Northern regions implementing Visual Management Structured Problem Solving and process mapping techniques

He is currently leading on a number of high profile Lean improvement projects within Highways England and using his expertise and knowledge to build the Lean capability of Highways England staff and its supply chain colleagues
