We love the missionaries of the Spain Barcelona Mission. I have just finished my second round of interviewing all 183 missionaries in El Faro and the experience has left me more inspired, more confident, more grateful and more enthusiastic than ever over the future of this mission. The Lord has sent a very special group of missionaries to this mission because He has a special work for us to do. As I was conducting interviews I often asked, “How are you?” or “How is your area doing?” or “How do you feel about your mission?” or “Do you find joy in this great work?” The variety of responses was most interesting. However, they general fell into two general categories: 1) a minority said “this is a tough area,” “we are doing a lot of street contacting,” “we find “news” but they don’t keep their appointments,” “we have no progressing investigators,” “there is no one in the streets to contact,” “the ward is not helping us,” “my companion irritates me,” “my investigators never show up to Church…” AND 2) a majority said, “this area is great,” “there is so much potential in this area,” “we have found some of the most amazing miracles street contacting,” “there are opportunities everywhere,” “we just had the most amazing discussion,” “the Lord has blessed us with so many teaching opportunities,” “the ward gives tremendous support to the work,” “I absolutely love my companion,” “our baptismal service was one of the most spiritual I have ever seen.” One sees a pattern when comparing the two. The first group tends to be a little more pessimistic and sees the glass as half full and the other is optimistic and has a cup which runneth over. Don’t misunderstand me on this issue, I don’t ever want reports to be sugar-coated or less than honest, but a positive, happy, upbeat attitude makes all of the difference in the world. Many of you will remember the training that Hermana Dayton did in Zone Conference when she taught about Creating a Life of Happiness. The thesis of her presentation was that our attitude is what determines how our lives will turn out, not our circumstances. Being positive has a lot to do with how much emotional energy we invest in our current enterprise (missionary work). Positive people are unstoppable, focused, excited, ebullient, confident, driven and fun to be around. They tend to have more success in life and are usually happier. Are people naturally positive or naturally negative? The Importance of a Positive Attitude in Missionary Work

Message From Presidente Dayton Cont.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude,
to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education,
than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people
think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make
or break a company….a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice
every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our
past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot
change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that
is our attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…We are in charge of our attitudes.”
I have often thought that a positive attitude and faith go hand in hand. If
we have faith something is going to happen and we approach its fulfillment with
positivity, energy, and confidence, the chance that it will happen is much greater. May
we all understand the power of positive thinking in this, the most important work of all, is
my prayer. May our beloved El Faro ever be a bastion of positivity, high energy,
optimism and deep faith. After my interviews I am convinced that the great majority of
our missionaries satisfy this definition and for that reason I am very POSITIVE about our
future.
Con mucha positividad,
Presidente Dayton

Attributes of Jesus Christ – Dependability
Message From Hermana Dayton
1 de Noviembre de 2015El Clarín de El Faro
Dependability is fulfilling what we consented to do, even if it means unexpected
sacrifice. In the Scriptures, a dependable person is defined as one who is faithful. The
Greek word for faithful is pistos and means "trustworthy; true, reliable." As missionaries, we
have accepted a call from our prophet to serve our Heavenly Father as His missionary in
bringing others to Christ. What a sacred privilege this is to do the will of the Lord at this
time in our lives.
As missionaries it is important for us to be in harmony with the mind and will of our
Heavenly Father and then be willing to do whatever it takes to please
Him. Dependability is not letting down God and others who are counting on us. It is
important for us to be dependable with our companions, our District Leaders, Zone
Leaders, Sister Training Leaders, Assistants, President Dayton and especially the Savior
and our Heavenly Father. There are many examples in the scriptures of dependable
people: Nephi, Moses, the Apostle Paul, Job, and many others who faithfully fulfilled their
missions.
A dependable missionary is one who--
--Is in harmony with the mind and will of our Heavenly Father
--Does what he says he will do
--Is strictly obedient to mission rules
--Completes assignments in a timely manner
--Uses time wisely and stays on the missionary schedule
--Keeps confidential information private
--Is truthful in all that is said
--Gives God credit for what is accomplished--Completes a task exactly as assigned
President Dayton and I feel very grateful and richly blessed for the opportunity to work
with so many faithful missionaries. We see you living the mission standards,
accepting assignments, faithfully serving those around you, going the extra mile in finding
and teaching investigators. Thank you for all you do to be dependable missionaries. We
love you dearly and sincerely pray each day for each one of you. We know that in
the end of our lives, we will each face our Savior. It is my hope and prayer that we will
hear Him speak, "Well done thou good and faithful servant."
Much love, gratitude and admiration--
Hermana Dayton

Compañerismos que lograron las pautas de excelencia:
Oremos por estos investigadores con fechas bautismales para esta semana:
El Clarín de El Faro
The Zone
Badalona is in The Zone!-With 3 Baptisms!!!
Lleida is in The Zone!-With an average of 8.4 new investigators per
companionship!
President what an amazing week of miracles I have seen. On Saturday I had my first Baptism this week with Pablo! It was so amazing. He was super ready and he is just so amazing. I was more
nervous than a house cat in the jungle. My hands were so sweaty I could of filled up the baptismal font with my sweat. But luckily everything went really well. We had 2 amazing talks one by Elder ____ and the other by Hermano Cesar the
young mens president. They were super simple so he could understand it very well. Pablo’s mom Virginia came and we had set a fecha with her for the 24th of October.
I bet you can't guess what our miracle this week was! Monica got baptized! Is was amazing, and my first baptism ever. I got to perform the ordinance and I was relieved when I did it right the first time, it was amazing to see how happy Monica was after. And especially after she received the gift of the Holy Ghost!!! Ahhh now we just have to keep that fire burning here in -----------!
This week we were really blessed to be able to baptize Jeaninne, which was an amazing experience. We had a great attendance, with many missionaries bringing investigators along too, so it
helped out more than just Jeannine!
This week has been
absolutely full of miracles. Estera's baptism was a reminder of why I'm here. We get rejected by so many people, but we don't just give up and assume
nobody wants the gospel. There are people out there who have been prepared for this for a long time. She literally glowed after her baptism, and seeing her like that reminded me of how much light and happiness the gospel brings to our lives. We often don't see it
because we have grown accustomed to it, but to see the way it changes somebody else is incredible.
This was the week President. We were able to baptize Joan, and immediately after that we were able to hear him bear his testimony from the pulpit. It was wonderful. Great experience, baptism went smoothly, everything went according to plan, we had several members of the ward show up. It was great.
President, MOISES WAS BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!! It was honestly the biggest miracle ever. Oh my Gatos, he was so ready. His testimony of the restored church is so strong. He prays. He reads. He absolutely shines and is just the biggest example to me. Ok so the week of his baptism, his mom still hadn't given him permission to be baptized, but he wanted it so bad. SO BAD. We had some of the most spiritual citas that I have ever had with him. His testimony is simply unshakable. But Thursday night we met with him, his mom and the relief society president.... It was incredible. Moises shared his desire with his mom... Tears were shed... The spirit was so strong... By the end of it, his mom opened up and just expressed that she wants what is best for her son and wants him to be happy, so she signed permission, and guess what?!? HE WAS BAPTIZED!!!!!!

The Miracle of Baptism

The Miracle of Baptism
