A park is being constructed by 30 men. Among these there are 3 tpes of people – A,B,C. 5 of them are from group A. 15 from B and rest from C. A’s group is twice as fast as B and C together. B individual is 1.5 times effeicient as C. An individual in C takes 390 days to complete the work. How much time will take for the entire group?


Solution. . .

C’s one person’ s one day work = 1/390 (30-5-15) = there are 10 members in C,

so total time by C group’ (1 day) = 1/39. B’s 1 person one day’s work 1/390*3/2 =

1/260. B’s group’s work =1/260*15=3/52 B+C= 13/156 = 1/12. A’s total work = 1/6 1/6+1/12 = 3/12 = ¼ or 4 days. Answer.


What is the ratio of time taken by group a person from group A and group C?

C = 1/390 A = 1/6*1/5 = 1/30 Thus ratio is 1:13 answer.


A (5,0), B (7,0), C (7,9), D (5,4), then what is the area of the region?

The starting point on X axis is 5 and the last point is 7, thus difference is 2. (so width is 2). Height is varying. At one point it is 4, at another point it is 9. Thus it is trapezium. The formulae is :

½*width*(sum of both different sides). =1/2*2*(4+9) =13 answer.


Sum of N terms of an AP is AN (N-1), what is the sum of their squares?

Formula = n/6 (n+1)(2n+1)=n/6(2n^2+3n+1) AN(N-1) = n/2(2a+(n-1)d=n/2(2a+nd-d) 2AN(N-1) = N(2a+nd-1)let us put d=2a 2an(n-1)=2an(n-1) (this solves our question) If we put a=0 and d=2a. Now we put this in our solution: The series is 0,2,4,6,8. . Now we can take

any value of N and find its solution and compare with the options given. Ans.


ABC is a triangle. XYZ divide AB, BC and CA in ratio of 1:2, 3:1 and 2:3, what is the ratio fo the areas of triangle ABC and XYZ?

Solve it by making a map. Answer is 1/5.



Data Sufficiency question

Does 45+X = 1? Hints: A. X is positive B. X is an odd number. Solution: Answer can be drawn from either hint. From

the first hint – as no positive number can give us 1, similarly, no odd number can give us 1. Ans.


If 4 dices are thrown simultaneously, what is the probability that the sum of the numbers is 20?

The total number of possibilities are : 6*6*6*6= 1296 Possibilities are : 2 in each (one

possibility),= 4; 3 in each: (3*4) = 12, , With 4: (4466,

4646,4664,4556,4655,4565,; similarly, 5*3) =21; with 5 (5555) thus total = 4+12+21+1 = 38. thus answer = 38/1296


4 coins are tossed together, what is the probability of getting at least 2 tails?

We can have 2,3,4 tails or or we can have 2 head, 1 head or 0 head.

BASIC FORMULA = NCR*P^R*Q^(N-R) 2 head = 4c2(1/2)^2*(1/2)^2 =4!/(2!*2!)*1/4*1/4 = 6/16 =.375 1 head = 4c1*(1/2)^1(1/2)^3= =4!/(1!*3!)*1/2*1/8 = ¼ = .25 Total 1 – (.375+.25) =.375 (ans).


How many numbers from 100 to 1000 are divisible by 5?

Divide 1000 by 5, we get 200. Divide 100 by 5, we get 20. but 100 is

also taken into account, so let us add like this:

200- 20 +1 = 181 answer.


How many natural numbers are there below 500, which are divisible by at least one of these: 2,3,4,6,8,10?

We shall consider only 2,3 for our calculation.

Total numbers divisible by 2 are 250 -1 = 249 Total numbers divisible by 3 are: 166. Total numbers divisible by 6 are: =83. Thus total =249+166-83= 332 ans.


If N is a negative number, what is the least of the following:

0, -n, 2n, n^2

Answer: 2N (as n^2 will become positive, and –n will also become positive).


What is the number of even prime numbers?

One (only even prime number is 2).


What is the unit place in 7^105* 6^94*2^84*4^74*3^86?

7^105 will give us 7 as unit place. 6^94 will give us 6 as unit place. 2^84 will give 6 as unit place 4^74 will give 6 as unit place 3^86 will give 9 as unit place. Solving these we get 8 as unit digit.
