International services has seen a 5% growth rate in trade in 2013.World services GDP has risen from 2.7% to 3.8% from 2011-2012.World services exports have a CAGR of 9.9% from 2001-2013.As per the UNCTAD investment report 2014, the global foreign direct investment (FDI) flows in service sector 2013 at US$ 1.45 trillion grew by 9%.

Services share in employment was 44.0% in 2012.

India stands as the second fastest growing services sector in the world after China:

The growth of services sector GDP (8.5% CAGR) has been higher than that of India’s overall GDP (7.1% CAGR) during 2000-2001 to 2013-14. Services sector constitutes a mammoth 57% of India’s GDP.Provided employment to 28% in 2012. Contributes 25% to total trade.Share of 40% to exports and 20% to imports.Accounts for 50% of FDI into the country. Government of India The mandate of the Department of Commerce is regulation, development and promotion of India’s international trade and commerce through formulation of appropriate international trade & commercial policy and implementation of the various provisions thereof. The basic role of the Department is to facilitate the creation of an enabling environment and infrastructure for accelerated growth of international trade. The Department formulates, implements and monitors the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) which provides the basic framework of policy and strategy to be followed for promoting exports and trade. The Trade Policy is periodically reviewed to incorporate changes necessary to take care of emerging economic scenarios both in the domestic and international economy.

Government of India

SEPC, an Export Promotion Council set by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, is an apex trade body to facilitate service exporters of India and serving as a platform of interaction between service exporters and policy makers. SEPC has been instrumental in promoting the efforts of Indian service exporting community. The Council has Completed 6 years of its existence and got a strong membership base of more than 1800 members from its 14 service sectors which come under the purview of SEPC. SEPC has membership base of more than 1800 professionals and professionally managed corporate spread across various service sectors throughout the country.
