22nd EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP COARSE ANGLING FOR SENIORS 2016
THE NETHERLANDS
ALMERE (LAGE VAART, JOHNSONPAD) ON 23 AND 24 JULY 2016
22nd EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP COARSE ANGLING FOR SENIORS 2016 From : Sunday 17th July 2016 (arrival of teams) To : Monday 25th July 2016 (departure of teams)
THE COMPETITION COARSE
The championship will be held on the Lage Vaart canal in the Almere-Buiten district, between the Buitenhoutsedreef and Buitenring (N207). The competition coarse has a length of around 2,500 metres
and a width of around 50 metres. Along the coarse there is a cycle path (Johnsonpad), which will
also be accessible for competitors' cars during training and the EC. The coarse is broken up by bridges in various locations, but these do not break up any sections. Cars belonging to competitors and organisers can be parked along the cycle path during the training days. During both EC days (23 and 24 July), the competitors can unload their competition equipment, after which the car should be parked in the local area or in the large
car park. On the opposite side from the coarse is a large sports complex (Fanny Blankers Koen Parc) with 2,500 spaces where the public can park. From the stations Almere and Almere-Buiten there is an excellent bus connection to the competition coarse (Line 5).
The space between the cycle path and competition water should be free of cars.
Between sections C and D there is a stretch of around 250 metres where a Youth Clinic and other activities will be set up and there will also be space here for the jury and organisers of the EC. The Lage Vaart has a depth of around 1.00 metre at the bank and 12 metres from the bank the depth is around 2,5 metres. The sections are broken up by bridges/viaducts. There is little vegetation along the canal. In the sectors there is no separation, between the two sectors there can be a bridge or viaduct.
Most traffic along the Lage Vaart is made up of pleasure boats. During both European Championship competition days (23 and 24 July), boating on the canal will be prohibited. The main fish species to be caught are: Bream Silver bream
Roach
Ruffe Perch Ide, Carp and Zander can also be found in the competition water.
There will be no minimum sizes for the various
fish during training for the EC 2016 and EC 2016 itself. The government has granted an exemption for this. Permission has also been given for use of catapults during training and the EC 2016. The most common technique is the solid rod or match rod.
22nd EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP COARSE ANGLING FOR SENIORS MAXIMUM FEED AND BAIT QUANTITIES AND ROD LENGTHS 20 litres of groundbaits and 2,5 litres of baits, of which maximum 1 litre of aquatic larvae (jokers and bloodworms), of which maximum 0,5 of bloodworms
During the EC 2016, a feed and bait check will take place after the 3rd signal. Competitors should have an official bucket and container with capacity markings for this. During the training days, a maximum of 15 litres may be used for heavy feeding in the morning and a
maximum of 5 litres may be used in the afternoon, containing a maximum of 1 litre chironomidae a day.
The maximum rod length is set at 13 metres. Keep-nets must be at least 3 metres long and have a diameter of 40 cm for round types and 50 cm for rectangular types.
WHERE IN THE NETHERLANDS IS ALMERE? Almere is a new city in the province of Flevoland, with around 170,000 inhabitants.
The capital of Flevoland is known for its beautiful and modern architecture and its expansiveness. In the future, the green city of Almere will expand to house 300,000 inhabitants, distributed among the various districts, including Almere-Buiten, where the European Championship will take place. The city is located in South Flevoland, a polder created through reclamation of the IJsselmeer Lake, previously the
Zuiderzee. The landscape of Flevoland is largely manmade. The Lage Vaart, like the Hoge Vaart, which is also well known, is a canal that crosses the province of Flevoland to ensure good drainage of the
IJsselmeer. This will be the first time the European Championship has been held below sea level. To the north-east of Almere is a large nature area called the Oostvaardersplassen, a paradise for birds with vast lakes and pristine wetlands. Red deer, Konik horses and Heck cattle graze on the wild grasslands.
