Due to key staff shortages due to self-isolation, St James Hatcham will be closed from 3.15pm today, Thursday 19 th March 2020. I realise this is distressing news for the entire school community and will leave many anxious, but I want to reassure everyone that we have done everything that we can to remain open for as long as this. I feel very confident that we have everything in place to ensure that we continue to support you and your children in the coming weeks and months. This summer’s SATS tests will not go ahead. Dear All, Coronavirus update for parents
Most of you will now know that yesterday, the government ordered schools in the UK to close on Friday afternoon until further notice. Due to key staff shortages due to self-isolation, St James Hatcham will be closed from 3.15pm today, Thursday 19th March 2020.
I realise this is distressing news for the entire school community and will leave many anxious, but I want to reassure everyone that we have done everything that we can to remain open for as long as this. I feel very confident that we have everything in place to ensure that we continue to support you and your children in the coming weeks and months.
This summer’s SATS tests will not go ahead. Our children have worked so hard preparing for their tests and we know that they would have done really well and wish to thank them for all their hard work. We would like to assure ou that all their efforts will not have gone to waste and that we will be reporting on the children’s achievement this year in the end of year school reports.
Over the next few days we will plan with the Local Authority for how we can offer a service to look after the children of ‘key workers’ (the exact definition of ‘key Workers’ has still not been receieved by the gov-ernment) and other children that the government wants us to keep in school. At this point we cannot give you any more details, but we will let you know what our plans are as soon as possible.
All staff have worked tirelessly this week to ensure we have 'home learning' arrangements in place. The Home Learning Packs have now gone home and there is a letter with staff email addresses for you to use if needed.

I am sure that you will join me in thanking all our fantastic staff for working so hard at this difficult time. Some cannot be in school at the moment but are working hard at home.
